My Vampire Faints at Blood Chapter 29
In Vitro Fertilization is Becoming Increasingly Sophisticated
His knowledge of modern life was still incomplete. The vampire clearly didn't understand the origin of the name, but chose not to pursue it, and just nodded thoughtfully, "All that is certain is that they both belong to the underworld, and I cannot yet get accurate information on the werewolf clan due to their total blockade of the blood family..."
"It doesn't matter, we can let go of Jia Duo Bao for the time being and focus on Wayne Loki." Shang Haojia, with one hand on his jaw, tapped the tip of his pen twice on the paper and wrote the words 'Wayne Loki' in the middle of it, "According to my father's years of experience in handling cases, one slap on the wrist won't make a difference, so there must be a dispute between the two sides. As long as we can pinpoint one side, sooner or later we can find traces of the other side. Let's take a look at our side first – is that family of dragons still here?"
"They are all still here. His Highness Xian Lin's body needs a long recovery period, and they are worried that they will be hunted down when they return to their original residence, so they have settled here for the time being." Wei Long poured himself a cup of tea and nodded gently, "Speaking of them – my dear friend, I'm sure that you, with your keenness, must have noticed that I've been intending to leave those two young Highnesses in your care..."
"Indeed, but I have not quite guessed your intentions." When he mentioned this, Shang Haojia nodded and put down his pen to look at him curiously, "Is there something special about those two little ones? Xian Bei's fear of heights has almost been cured, his brother has inherited the husky bloodline, and I haven't come up with a solution yet – there's really no reason why I should keep them in this situation."
"Actually, those two little guys really like you. We had a brief chat after dropping you off, and their two fathers were surprised at how close they were to you." The vampire smiled softly at the human doctor, who seemed to be able to take on all races with ease, and lowered his head to take a sip of his tea, "They have the purest dragon bloodline I have ever seen, and since they are twins, they were born with great power. In theory, it takes a long learning curve for a juvenile dragon to be able to summon water vapour, and for them to be able to call forth the wind and the rain, it takes juvenile dragons over two-hundred years."
"Two-hundred years and older are still juvenile dragons..." Upon hearing this horrifying age classification range, Doctor Shang couldn't help but whisper in exclamation. It was only when he saw the vampire look over that he hastily waved his hand and sat up straight with a light cough, "It's nothing, I just thought the word young was a bit formidable – do dragons have such a long life span?"
"Yes, dragons are one of the few races with the longest lifespan, and that is the main reason I want you to befriend those two young Highnesses." The vampire lowered his head and took a sip of his tea, as if there was suddenly some hesitation in his appearance. His fingertips gently rubbed the wall of his cup, and he dropped his eyes to avoid the human doctor's gaze, "Among dragons, the Chinese divine dragons have acquired a certain kind of very mysterious power of qi because they have long been worshipped and believed in by humans as totems. This power has no good or bad effects on them per se, but using this power, they can make contracts with humans – and any human who has made a contract with the dragons can share in their qi, thus gaining an equally everlasting life span until the termination of the contract..."
For the first time, the vampire dared not look at the human in front of him, subconsciously clenching the cup of tea in his hand and bowing his head deeply in shame.
His strength was already terrifyingly strong, and he had forgotten to control his strength because he was overwhelmed with emotions. Before he could react, the teacup suddenly shattered with a pop, and a sharp stinging pain came from his hand.
The next moment, the human doctor on the sofa suddenly leapt up and lunged towards the vampire.
He sensed that he was about to be beaten up. Wei Long reacted swiftly and pushed aside the shards of the teacup, and was about to warn the other party to be careful when the sofa suddenly sank slightly downwards. The familiar and friendly scent of the human doctor came from beside him.
Shang Haojia rested one knee against the couch, making sure the vampire couldn't see the wound on his own hand before he finally breathed a small sigh of relief, "I can't believe you got yourself hurt when you're hemophobic – are you that desperate for me to give you artificial respiration?"
The elegant and talkative vampire seemed to be lost for a moment. Opening his mouth in a daze, he lifted his hand to gently wrap it around the human's shoulder, "My dear–"
Looking at the almost instantaneous healing of the wound on the other's hand, Shang Haojia finally realised how ambiguous his current position was, and hurriedly straightened up and stepped back. With a light cough of embarrassment, his gaze then drifted aside with some heartfelt concern, and he pretended to calmly interrupt the other party's words, "Your racial talent is really remarkable, it seems I still have to study it – even if I can make a small contribution in promoting human wound healing, I will have my PhD thesis..."
"My dear friend – I'm actually quite happy to lie on the dissecting table if it will help you in your research." With eyes still bloodshot with excitement that still hadn't receded, and a pleased smile spreading across his face, the vampire didn't hesitate to respond, taking his hand again with concern and gently holding it, "I apologise for my earlier selfishness, for so badly wanting to spend my life with you, even though, as a vampire, my life is far too long... won't you be annoyed at me for acting so selfishly?"
"I'm not really annoyed, and I don't want to wait until I'm seventy or eighty years old to see you bouncing around in front of me with a face like that." After what had just happened, and hearing such a frank confession from the other party, Shang Haojia's attitude calmed down considerably, and the blood in his face gradually faded, "But – I'm still curious. Wouldn't the most convenient thing for you to do be to turn me into a vampire? Why would you go through all this trouble?"
"Yes, it is true that I could have turned you into one of my kind, but as long as there are no compelling situations, I will be sure not to do so." The vampire smiled helplessly and shook his head gently, lifting his hand sincerely to straighten his collar, which had been somewhat torn from his actions, "If I had fallen in love with an ordinary human, I might have considered first embracing him and turning him into one of my own kind after asking his opinion. But you are different, you are a skilled doctor and I can appreciate that you are truly proud of your profession – A doctor is a guardian of life and I cannot, because of my own selfish reasons, turn a patron saint of life into an unliving, undead monster."
Meeting the honest and unfiltered look in the inky pupils of the vampire before him, Shang Haojia's breath couldn't help but stall slightly. Subconsciously holding the hand that remained in his, he opened his mouth and was about to speak when the anxious voice of a teenager suddenly came from the stairs, "Brother Long, I heard Uncle Ghost say that a flying lion came by, was it that winged lion from the traffic bureau that came after us?!"
The atmosphere, which had been ambiguous to the extreme, was broken unexpectedly. Both of them were taken aback, their clasped hands instantly separated and each sat back against the sofa.
Shang Haojia's face was already so red that it was about to burn, and he hastily raised his cup of tea to cover up his original embarrassment. Fortunately, Wei Long was in no condition to blush, he just calmly straightened his clothes and raised his head with a light cough, looking up the stairs at the teenager in wizard's robes, "A’Xi, what are you doing out here, did you finish all your homework?"
"Not yet – I told you I couldn't read English! What the hell is all that scribbling, I can't even read a paragraph..." Hearing him mention homework, the teenager suddenly slapped the bannister twice in annoyance and responded angrily.
Wei Long laughed helplessly, but still waved patiently towards him, "Come – this is Doctor Shang, if he didn't help you block that matter from your past, you would have been arrested by the Special Department already for maliciously cursing a law enforcement officer."
The teenager looked only eleven or twelve years old, and his skin was slightly pale, but not bloodless like the vampire's. Hearing this, he glanced at Shang Haojia curiously, his eyes lively and animated, obviously, he was not a calm child.
Wei Long pulled him to his side and smiled apologetically at Shang Haojia, "By blood, he's my nephew and is currently living with me. He's in his first year at Hogwarts now, just call him A’Xi."
"I didn't curse him! I just said that he was destined to go bald because his Yintang was shining, but I wasn't wrong..." The teenager huffed in response, but obediently walked over, stood with his hand out in front of Shang Haojia, and narrowed his eyes again as he looked him up and down carefully, "You look quite human – mhmm, you should be human. Brother, I can see that your face is square, your heavenly court is wide, and your eyebrows are beautiful and pure, you look like a person of great wealth and prosperity. I can see that your qi branch is open like a peach blossom. The heavenly stem meets the positive sea star, this indicates really good luck. You are bound to meet good things in the future, so you must cherish it..."
"..." Looking at the teenager wearing wizard’s robes in front of him, who was talking with a lot of enthusiasm, Shang Haojia turned his head in a complicated mood and looked at Wei Long, who looked innocent, on the side, "Does Hogwarts offer such an advanced course on reading fortunes?"
"If only Hogwarts taught this, I would have learned it better than anyone else." At his words, the boy's expression suddenly fell and he tugged at his wizard’s robes helplessly, "I don't know what they're thinking, having to use a wand – Isn't it much better to just use talisman paper and vermillion ink? I don't know why they have to do all that fancy stuff..."
"Well, you go back first, I'll help you with your homework later in the day. You don't have to worry about the winged lion. Since you really didn't curse him, nothing will happen." Wei Long shook his head with a smile and patted him on the back, signalling for him to go back first. Hearing his assurance, the teenager finally let out a long sigh of relief, and a smile appeared on his face, "Ah, then I'm relieved – Brother Long, Brother Shang, I'll go back first, you guys take your time and talk..."
Looking at the teenager's flamboyant back, Shang Haojia still hadn't recovered from the strong contrast. He shook his head and looked at the vampire on the side, "I suddenly feel that I might need to get to know your family members."
"I would love to introduce you to my family members, but if I were to take stock of them, I would probably have enough family members to talk about for an entire evening – and A’Xi is only related to me by blood, but he does not count as a member of my family. To explain this, we would have to go back to our original topic of the underworld power and black market trade led by the Leith Family." The vampire smiled helplessly as he replaced his teacup with a new one and poured himself another cup of tea, "I don't know if you understand, my dear friend, but in the beginning, under the influence of the original gothic culture, there was a vampire cult that existed among humans – Some people thought that vampires were cool, and others wished to stay young forever or to make time stand still. The first embrace is an ability that only vampires with a blood purity level of B or higher can have, and now that the number of such vampires is rare, such enthusiasm has given rise to a new form of first embrace called the test tube first embrace."
"..." Having originally listened quite attentively, after hearing the last four words, Doctor Shang finally managed to choke and spit out a mouthful of tea, "I have an inexplicable hunch that the person who came up with that name is probably a peer of mine..."
"Is there a similar medical term in human society?" The vampire good-naturedly wiped the tea off his face and gently patted the back of the still-coughing human doctor again, "I don't really know much about the exact means of implementing this method, but one thing that can't be denied is this – Even though sub-vampires born from the test tube first embrace do not have a proof of identity, they still have a blood link to the vampire who provided the blood. And in A’Xi's case, it just happens to be my brother's blood."
After finally catching his breath and listening to the other man's words, Doctor Shang raised an eyebrow slightly, "He doesn't look much like a vampire to me, and his vitals are all normal – so do sub-vampires only have whitening capabilities?"
"Then the humans also gradually discovered that a pure vampire state was not suitable for survival in human society, so a new series of experiments were carried out – A’Xi was one of the subjects in this experiment, and I brought him back here after accidentally finding him while tracking down my brother's attacker." Wei Long, however, just shook his head and let go of his hand to sit back, "He was originally an orphan who followed the old Taoist priest to remove ghosts from his doorstep, and after the old Taoist priest passed away, he wandered around and was captured for human experimentation. The magical talent in him was probably sparked by this experiment."
"No wonder that slang was spoken so skillfully, exactly like the fortune teller at the stall in front of our hospital..." Finally relieved that the misunderstanding about Hogwarts had been cleared up, Doctor Shang picked up a pen and continued to write a few lines on the paper, "So the business that those mob families are in is actually attacking vampires whose blood is relatively pure and then selling their blood – this was actually the case with the attack on the golden dragon this time. Could it be that they got big in this kind of business and opened up some new business, like helping koi refine into dragons or something like that?"
"It's not logical to think so. After all, just as dragons rely on the essence of blood to pass on their power, first embrace is an ability unique to the blood race, and the blood of other races shouldn't have such an effect." Shaking his head cautiously, the vampire finally gave in to his curiosity and peered at the handwriting on the piece of paper. He found that apart from the words 'Wayne Loki', he could not make out a single word, "My dear friend, please forgive my constant curiosity – there are probably very few languages in this world that I don't know at all, is that some new coded script you are using?"
"Well... you could interpret it that way. It's a mysterious cipher code that we doctors use to contact the pharmacists who pack our medications at the pharmacy." Subconsciously using the doctor's special prescription font, Doctor Shang glanced at the piece of paper and nodded with a straight face, righteously changing the subject, "You said your brother was attacked by them too, was it that Wayne Loki who made the move then too?"
"It wasn't him. I could only originally confirm that it was a werewolf gang, but now it seems highly likely that it was Jia Duo Bao." Wei Long nodded slightly and responded contemplatively, and just as smoothly accepted the code name Shang Haojia had proposed, "That day when I dropped you off for your extra shift, I heard that it was a werewolf-caused mass wounding, and thought that the incident was related to their clan, which is why I tracked it down in a hurry. But after I followed the scent all the way there, all I saw was a werewolf howling miserably and hurting people all around, and an elf who was chasing him without knowing what he was shouting..."
"Very good – from this paragraph onwards, I probably know the plot." Thinking of An Muxi, who was so sad that they became an elf ball, Shang Haojia still had the decency not to continue the topic. Turning the pen in his hand twice, he wrote down the story on the paper as well, "While it's not obvious what's going on yet, we can't rule out that there's no connection between the events at all. After all, elves don't just go out and purify werewolves for no reason, and I think the Special Department must have had something that led to a major manpower shortage to send out even an elf of his level..."
"Lord Muxi's power is still very strong – Once, a dark magician infiltrated the Special Department's headquarters and tried to unleash a spell to awaken all the evil races that had been sealed. No one was able to stop his magical chanting, and only Lord Muxi, who was only thirteen years old at the time, managed to do so. He was granted the status of Apostle of Light as a result." The vampire shook his head, looking serious as he explained, and sighed softly in deep sympathy, "According to popular legend, in a ring match between the elven race, no elf has ever been able to chant for more than three minutes in front of Lord Muxi – It's just that for whatever reason, he was never very high up in the Special Department, and was even eventually relegated to the useless, unused position he has today. To this day, many of the wayward races still can't understand the Special Department's intentions in doing so."
"So that's how it is, then he's really something..." After a long and difficult struggle with a vaguely aching conscience, Doctor Shang finally managed to keep his promise, which would have been of little use, and nodded to himself, "Okay, let's not talk about him – I still have a few issues to sort out, so let's work on them one by one and take stock of the overall situation."
"My dear friend, I trust your keen instincts and thoughtfulness, so feel free to ask questions." The vampire nodded with a smile, and following his example, he leaned forward with his arms folded and looked at him patiently, "I will tell you everything I know about any situation."
Having inexplicably established their relationship, Shang Haojia was suddenly a little unable to look straight into those inky eyes. With a soft cough, he lowered his head and pulled the kraft paper in front of him, "Let's sort this out in chronological order. The origin of everything is probably a snobbish dispute between two families, Wayne Lokie's and Jia Duo Bao's. Both races are in the underworld, and both target relatively pure-blooded vampires to sell their blood on the black market – as the raw material for test-tube first embraces..." The human doctor, used to sperm banks and test-tube babies, struggled to complete the sentence and couldn't help but rub his temples as the tip of his pen tapped the paper twice, "So you actually tracked your brother all the way to China because he was attacked?" As he spoke, Shang Haojia waved the paper at his face.
"No – Because I had been banished from the Blood Clan, I was unable to make contact with my kind even after I awoke, so I had to follow the location in my memory to find the wealth left behind by the original purebloods. Fortunately, because those riches were indeed hidden very well, they went undetected for all those years and managed to save me from the predicament I was in at the time." At the sight of his movement, the vampire snapped his fingers thoughtfully and a carved wooden window opened in response. The fresh air from the rain trickled through the window into the hall along with the moonlight, "Those riches belonged to the ancient European continent, and most of them had clear historical traces. To try to sell them in Europe would undoubtedly attract the attention of the Blood Elders and other races, so I picked out something safe enough to trade for a sailing ship, transferred all of the riches to the ship, and made my way towards Asia, before finally hitting the road off the coast of China. It took a few more twists and turns before I finally settled here and was investigated and vetted by the Special Department to qualify to live here, and gradually made contact with some of the reliable forces left behind back then."
"Thanks, that feels much better." Refreshed by the fresh night air, Shang Haojia couldn't help but take a deep breath and sit up straighter, nodding towards the vampire, "Hold your tongue and let me guess – did someone from the Special Department tell you about your brother's attack and send you to investigate the matter?"
"My dear friend, I have to say that you are not only a very quick thinker, but you are well versed in the many facets of this. If you were to be absorbed into the Special Department, even with your mind alone, you would certainly be able to reach a very high position in it." The vampire smiled lightly and nodded, looking at him with a little more appreciation, "In truth, I have no great affinity with most of my kinsmen, but my brother had secretly offered me help after I had been expelled from the family, and had taken me in for a time without the knowledge of the brutal Mary Tudor – So even though I knew that the Special Department had informed me of this matter in order to take advantage of the hostile relationship between werewolves and vampires that had lasted for a thousand years, and to use me as a check on the power of the werewolf race, I still accepted the task of investigating the case."
"Forget about the Special Department – with the frequency and intensity of my overtime work, if I take on another part-time job, I could really consider changing races and trying out what it's like to be exhausted." The dedicated Doctor Shang shook his head without hesitation, decisively rejecting the suggestion. He sullenly clenched his right hand into a fist, rested his lips against it as he leaned forward onto the table to look at him speculatively, "So you've actually been pursuing this matter... I've been thinking about this for a while now. I remember Mr. He once said that your slumber caused the purebloods to think they were extinct for a while, and when you were describing the classification of vampire bloodlines just now, you didn't simply describe them as purebloods directly. Instead, you deliberately used the broader classification of class B and above. At this rate, are you the last male pureblood vampire in the world?"
"My dear friend, I am struck by the strength of your memory and the extreme clarity of your thinking, which is almost comparable to that of a good detective..." He didn't expect that the two simple words would give the human doctor so much information. The vampire's eyes widened in surprise, and a faint colour of blood spread across his inky pupils, "Yes – although I'm not always willing to admit it, if the statistics are correct, there are only thirteen vampires left who are completely pure in blood. Apart from me, the rest are all virtuous women..."
"That's the real reason you fled Europe, isn't it?" Looking at the vampire's distraught look with interest, Detective Shang leaned back into the couch and meaningfully picked up the corners of his lips, "In fact, there was an animal in China that was at one time in a very similar position to yours, the Giant Panda – At first, the experts put in a lot of effort to keep them from becoming extinct. For example, they were forced together, they were shown little pornographic films day and night, they were taught about sex, and they even thought about using an artificial third party to assist them in their mating. Haven't you tried anything to continue to carry on your race?"
"So the Chinese invented all these tactics – the Chinese are so horrible..." As if recalling some extremely horrible memory, the vampire's already bloodless face actually seemed to pale even more. He subconsciously retreated into the sofa and clasped his hands tightly around his teacup, "No – we didn't try anything, and I decisively fled Europe before they had time to try... In fact, a pureblood vampire doesn't mean much, just that their blood is pure. Even mixed with human blood, there is no significant weakening in power, so there is no need to necessarily be born pureblood..."
"Not exactly. I believe that the reason why the treasure was left behind and not taken away, but you were able to get it without any problems, is that there is probably some connection with your bloodline." It was rare to see such a nervous look on the normally elegant and calm vampire's face, so Shang Haojia coughed lightly to hide his laughter and shook his head in a serious manner, "In most movies, purebloods must have more special skills than mixed-bloods, otherwise the plot would be too boring, wouldn't it?"
"Dear friend, please give me a break – I don't want to remember anything that would give me nightmares for five-hundred years." Wei Long begged for mercy helplessly, folding his hands and bowing towards him twice, then sighed tearfully, "Let us talk about my brother's affairs. If we continue to talk about this topic, my heart will probably be frightened into beating again..."
"In fact, I was going to suggest something to help you out of this predicament – but considering the extent of the damage this topic is doing to your heart, let's just change the subject for now." Doctor Shang smiled and shook his head, accepting the suggestion thoughtfully, and relaxing back into the sofa, "Let's talk about your brother first, I'm also interested in his identity – You're brothers, yet you're the only pureblood, so you don't actually have the same parents?"
"He is my half-brother. After my mother fulfilled her duty as a pureblood and gave birth to pureblood offspring with my father, she eventually met a half-blood vampire who truly loved her. Leaving the family to marry and have children with him, he gave birth to my brother." Finally free from the original gruesome topic, the vampire was relieved and nodded gently, "Vampires who leave after doing their duty like this are not punished by the family, but are no longer sheltered by them either. The family always lived on the European continent, and it was they who took me in temporarily after I had been expelled from the whole of England. A knowledgeable gentleman from the family was the one who informed me of the way in which I could rely on the relics to gain power."
Hearing the closeness to the family in the vampire's words, Shang Haojia nodded gently and sat upright with a serious question, "Are they all well now? I thought since you've met my parents, I should pay them a visit or two at some point..."
"In the later battle of the purebloods, almost all of the pureblood vampires were sniped or beaten to death, and my mother was not spared. That gentleman buried my mother and accompanied her into a deep sleep. As for me, I was also mistakenly thought to be dead and buried deep at the time, so I don't really know anything about what happened after that." Meeting his concerned gaze, Wei Long however only shook his head regretfully and sighed extremely softly, "After awakening, I had tried to find them with a faint hope. However, apart from the fact that my brother had fallen into a deep sleep because he had been attacked, I never obtained any more clues."
"I have always feel a little uneasy when it comes to your brother's situation – knowing that if your brother's bloodline is already enough to be targeted by them, then you are undoubtedly going to be in even more danger." Shang Haojia sat up straight and looked at him, his face taking on a rare seriousness, "Although you have been banished from the family and your heritage is known to all, they may not be able to trace it all the way back to you based on your brother. I remember you saying that the vampire was above you in power, and if we go by common sense, the werewolf who could be a rival to him likely has a comparable level of power as well. What are you going to do if they both have their eyes on you?"
"I did think of that possibility, but if I apply for special protection from the Special Department at this point in time, it would probably bring the matter straight to the top of the Special Department. There are races in the Special Department that are not friendly to either werewolves or vampires, and if a referendum is initiated as a result, it is likely that this will be used to expel us from the country." Hearing that he was likely to be in danger, the vampire didn't look all that alarmed, he just shook his head slightly and sighed softly with a light smile, "I already had a very good impression of this country, and now that I have an additional attachment that makes me feel infinitely lucky and sweet, I am not willing to leave like this..."
"I think it's actually right not to contact the Special Department." Although he was used to such frank and eager confessions from vampire, Shang Haojia could not help but avert his gaze slightly to calm his troubled mind, "Although I don't fully understand the Special Department as you call it, it seems to me that there is no guarantee that there are not people in the Special Department who are in cahoots with them. In particular, the fact that the Special Department has ordered you to pursue such matters really does make me suspect that possibility."
"The Special Department is an alliance formed by the top officials of the various races; the elders of the blood race, the leader of the wolf race, and the head of the human special abilities department are also among them." Thoughtfully describing the composition of the Special Department for the human doctor, Wei Long's eyes also took on some seriousness, and he nodded slightly in thought, "This suspicion is indeed very justified, and it is necessary for me to take this kind of situation into account, and not to trust them too much..."
"In fact, there is actually another alternative, it just never occurred to you." Gently patting the vampire's shoulder, Shang Haojia sat up slightly straighter and looked at him as he spoke in a serious manner, "Growing up, my mother taught me a great saying in life called 'man is iron, food is steel', and if I'm not wrong, it actually applies equally to any race. The reason why that vampire is stronger than you is not necessarily because he is more talented than you, it could very well be because, well, you've been hungry for just a little bit too long..."
"My dear friend, I have to admit that your judgement is indeed as accurate as it always is." Avoiding his gaze, Wei Long laughed helplessly and shook his head bitterly, "But – it's probably not really practical to go looking for a new altar right now, either. Most of the locations of the natural altars I remember have been destroyed by human activity and massive construction, and the few that remain are simply too far away from here..."
"I think you've probably misunderstood me, my dear vampire." Shang Haojia sighed lightly and held the unsuspecting vampire with both hands, half leaning down to meet his gaze seriously, "You are a vampire, even if you do have some difficulties, you should still be worthy of the name of your race, right? It's not like you can't digest and absorb blood if you're dizzy, haven't you thought of any way to drink it without seeing it?"
"To – drink blood?" The vampire was stunned, and then suddenly there was a look of distress in his eyes. His lips pursed as he averted his gaze, and for the first time, he showed some reluctant hesitation, "Why don't we – think of something else or I'll try to find a new altar..."
"It's just a sip of blood, is it too difficult?" When he saw that the vampire, who was always so calm and graceful, was really troubled by this blood-sucking thing, Shang Haojia felt a bit puzzled and simply half-squatted down in front of the sofa, "I've never seen a patient who faints because of milk before, so I can't imagine how you feel, but I don't believe your family never tried to feed you blood blindfolded when you were a child – What was the problem then, why didn't it work?"
By raising his head while in a half-crouch like that, he made himself appear a lot more youthful. The vampire subconsciously lowered his head to look into those curiously bright eyes, and actually felt his chest, which had been dormant for a thousand years, inexplicably move. He was compelled to lean down slightly, inching closer to the human doctor in front of him.
‘Vampire's Guide to Love Appendix #7’ – When a guy stares at you, he wants you to kiss him.
The vampire finally realised that he had probably picked up the wrong script and should not be looking at the code for courting ladies, but should instead be referring to the appendix for chasing boys in the back. Feeling greatly encouraged, the vampire carefully kept his movements subdued and not reckless, doing his best to hide the infinite nervousness and apprehension he felt inside, but he couldn't help but reach out and gently wrap his hand around the human doctor's neck.
Fifteen inches, ten inches, five inches – Just as the vampire had almost succeeded in his first achievement, kissing the human doctor in front of him, Shang Haojia suddenly moved, without any hesitation, and turned his head to the side to avoid it.
An abrupt awakening from indulgence. Aware of his rude offence, Wei Long stood up in a panic, inadvertently sending the sofa behind him bouncing about ten metres away and hitting the fireplace behind him hard, "I am sorry, my friend, I–"
"... Didn't you just try to bite me?" Shang Haojia was taken aback by his reaction and sat down on his butt, blinking and looking at him blankly, "I saw that you were really struggling a bit, so I thought I'd help you out – I've offered my neck to you, is it really that hard to invite you to dinner?"

Finally we could read the conflict in this story. Beginning chapters were fun. We were introduced to interesting characters and from the interaction with the characters we could understand the main characters' personalities. But because I got used to SCI's rhythm, I kept wondering when will we reach the conflict of this story.
ReplyDeleteI could see the changed in Doctor Shang. Before he was so professional in everything he did and never felt embarrassed or disturbed by anything. Now he could felt embarrassed.
Wei Long was so sweet. His first thought to be with Doctor Shang forever wasn't to changed him into a vampire. 😍
Oh man.. I knew that Chinese government really trying hard to save Panda from being extinct. But I didn't know that details what they did.
Now I would look at them and not only thought how cute they are, but also these details 😅😅 Poor Wei Long was so traumatized 🤣
I can't believe the author took Hogwarts 😅 And pairing Ah Xi's skill with his knowledge of Feng shui. 😂
And finally we would reached what you mentioned in the introduction. We could read how Doctor Shang would tried so hard to make Wei Long drank blood.
The ending of this chapter was so funny. I couldn't stop laughing 😂🤣 But somehow I could already guessed it. Cause it wouldn't be that smooth for Wei Long to kissed Doctor Shang.
I can't stop laughing when I read what Doctor Shang said in the end. 😂🤣
True. I'm so used to the pacing in SCI that going through this novel felt so easy and fluffy so far, but now we are actually getting into the deeper plot.
DeleteI love this change in Doctor Shang, and I love how caring Wei Long is towards him 🥰
I'll never look at a giant panda the same again 😂😂
Poor Wei Long is so unfortunate in his pursuit of Doctor Shang 😂🤣
Is it really that hard to invite you to dinner? No, Doctor, but it is really hard to kiss you 😅😂
DeleteSorry for oot.. Doctor Shang was smart. He always remembered what others said and could connect all the information and concluded the right assumption.
He kinda reminded me of Ji Xiao Bing's character in You Are The Miracle. He was a good police officer there and as smart as Doctor Shang.
The kind of smart that made us admired them that when we were got the explanation we would thought : damn, I knew that facts too but I didn't thought it was important.
The kind of smart like Kudo Shinichi / Edogawa Conan in Detective Conan. Smart but still human's smart.
Not like Zhan Zhao's smart. His smart / genius is in the level of inhumane / gods. 😅😀
Poor Wei Long has been struggling to get that kiss 😅😂
DeleteDoctor Shang is definitely super smart. He is also really good at adapting to situations, he barely even batted an eye when faced with a vampire the first time. Though Zhan Zhao is definitely smarter 😅
