Synopsis

Zhan Zhao shook his head indifferently. He traced Bai Yutang’s sharp and handsome silhouette with his finger and spoke in a low voice, “If there comes a day where you are gone and I am the only one left, I might end up walking the same path as Zhao Jue.”

Bai Yutang looked at Zhan Zhao for a while, “Why?”

This novel has been worked on by two other translators, but has never been finished; Lilies are Flowers made it up to Chapter 43 but hasn't posted since June 2021, and Nighthawk Work Translations made it up to Chapter 67, but hasn't updated since July 2020. That being said, a translator has reached out to me in March 2022 about working on cases 4 and 5, and they will be working with me to post them on this site. We respect the work of the other two translators and have reached out to Lilies, but since the novel hasn't been touched in over eight months, we are tentatively pushing ahead with the posting.

That was the first translation project I ever worked on and my work has gotten much better since then, so I want to make sure that the quality matches the current work that I am releasing. I also will not be making EPUB files for cases 1 - 3, as they were done by other translators.

Important Note From the Translator

This is a very intensively and carefully edited MTL. I use up to three different translation tools, as well as Chinese dictionaries, chengyu dictionaries, Baidu web searches, Baidu Baike, Baidu Zhidao, and other Chinese websites to try to make sure the original meaning and tone are preserved and that idioms, cultural references, and historical references are explained. While I am actively learning Mandarin, I am nowhere near the level I would need to be to do this without the use of such tools, however I do have a good understanding of how to spot idioms and such.

My translations are not 100% literal, but I try my best to keep the translations accurate and faithful to the spirit of the original. This means that I will edit out redundant words, add a necessary word, and rearrange some words or phrases in order for my final work to not only translate the original text into English, but also to have a translation that flows as smoothly in the target language as it does in the source language. 

Other Notes

I started volume two of this novel after reaching out the the active translator at the time, Lilies are Flowers, and receiving her permission. She was super nice and allowed me to work on volume two and beyond, so I must thank her.

I am using the raw files from jjwxc. I don't know if there are censorship differences between this and the physical book, but I do know that the physical book has some bonus chapters. I don't have access to the physical book so I won't be able to do those bonus chapters.
