Dr. Ou's Psychotherapy Extra 4

Dr. Ou Smoke and Mirrors of the Republic of China

Republic of China, Beijing, Autumn.

A joint business and industrial exchange is being held at the Six Nations Hotel.

Although Ou Tingyun is a doctor by profession, his family is in business, so he has been invited.

At the beginning of the meeting, the speakers on the stage made people drowsy. When he was bored, he glanced over his shoulder and saw a young man not far behind the speakers.

The young man had a cool demeanour, with a tear-shaped mole at the corner of his eye, which inexplicably added a touch of sultry beauty. In this sombre room, it was like a fresh breeze passing through a jade gate.

I have to get to know him, Ou Tingyun thought.

I will use every means, every trick, to develop any relationship I can with him.

An unexplained impulse, a deepest desire.

He asked a waiter at the meeting, "Who is that?"

The attendant replied, "The speaker? The president of the Beijing Federation of Commerce and Industry."

"No," said Ou Tingyun, pointing to the man, "I'm asking about him."

"That is, the president's lawyer, Mr. Yi Zhize."

Yi Zhize, was a nice name, Ou Tingyun thought, how could I get to know him?

At this meeting, apart from inviting people from the business community in Beijing, there were also many foreign businessmen present.

Ou Tingyun noticed that also behind the speaker, next to Yi Zhize, stood an old friend of his, Professor Lin Fei from the English Department of the Y University in Beijing.

After receiving his doctorate in medicine, Ou Tingyun worked as a visiting professor in the Faculty of Medicine at Y University. He and Lin Fei had collaborated on the translation of a medical book, but of course, it was mainly Lin Fei's work, he was only responsible for providing some medical advice. If Lin Fei agreed to help introduce him, this matter would have an eighty or ninety percent chance of success.

After the president had finished his speech, Lin Fei gave a brief translation, and after applause, the group stepped down from the stage and went to their seats.

Ou Tingyun pretended not to have noticed and approached the table, exchanging pleasantries,

"Professor Lin, what a coincidence, I didn't expect to meet you here."

Lin Fei responded politely, "Professor Ou, it's been a long time since I shook hands with you, how are you?"

Although he was talking to Lin Fei, Ou Tingyun was staring at Yi Zhize.

As their eyes met, Yi Zhize accidentally knocked over his wine glass. Watching as the crimson liquid wet the white tablecloth, the glass was about to plummet over the edge of the table to the floor when Ou Tingyun leaned over and caught it.

In his ear, he said, "Be careful."

A lingering moment, pulsing with tenderness.

Yi Zhize's heart beat a little faster: "Thank you."

"Zhize."

"Do we know each other?"

"Now that we have met, I wonder if we can get to know each other?"

Yi Zhize had never liked to make friends with people, but since he had been helped by someone, he couldn't resist, even though it was just a gesture of help: "Ruizheng Law Firm, Yi Zhize."

"Ou Tingyun, Beijing Hospital."

"It's a pleasure to meet you."

"Zhize, have you ever heard of hypnosis?"

"Not really."

"It can help you go back in time, harmonise your mind and body, and help you sleep well.

Are you interested in trying it?"

"It can help me sleep well?"

"It can."

"When would be a good time?"

"Tonight would be fine."

When the conference was over, Ou Tingyun took him to his treatment room.

"Zhize, I'm going to take off your coat."

"Mhmm."

"Zhize, may I?"

"What?"

"Do you want to keep acting? Barrister Yi?"

"Professor Ou, I don't understand what you mean."

"Ze Ze, are you still immersed in the Republic?"

"If this isn't the Republic, when else could it be?"

"Ze Ze, it seems that you are too engrossed, I want to kiss you so badly."

"Dr. Ou, please behave yourself."

"I should have known not to play this game with you." Ou Tingyun said disgruntled, "You're the one who insisted on trying the latest situational hypnosis."

"Dr. Ou, I still don't quite understand the content of your words. Please let go of me, I'm leaving."

"Ze Ze, do you want to be here, or do you want to wake up after?"

"It doesn't even matter! Clothed beast! No sense of manners or shame!"

Ou Tingyun smiled, "Thank you for the compliment."

Translator Notes

This chapter gives a sneak peak at one of the characters from a novel I am planning to translate, Sonnets to Mister, by the same author. I am also planning on translating this one, and am working on it sporadically.

Please feel free to comment any mistakes I made so I can improve and do better as I go through the book.
