My Vampire Faints at Blood Chapter 14

There Are Limits to the Effects of Sunscreen

The action that has been rehearsed countless times came to an abrupt halt as the vampire looked at the tall werewolf who was blinking blankly, and he chuckled kindly.

"Okay, okay, dog abuse is not good." Shang Haojia patted him on the shoulder, then moved to the side to make room for Wei Long, who apparently wasn't very warm-hearted, "By the way – you weren't really planning on biting me, were you?"

"In order to be able to guarantee my elegant image in front of you, I would not choose such reckless and stupid behaviour." Wei Long smiled helplessly, and moved to sit by his side. Patting He Jialun's shoulder, his tone appeared to be very friendly and enthusiastic, "My friend, you must know – if it weren't for Doctor Shang's help, you would probably be running after the car by now."

"Did I mess up again?" Driven by instinct, he shivered fiercely. Although he still couldn't figure out the situation, He Jialun nodded obediently, "Okay, the next time you bite him, I won't interrupt."

Having lost his temper thanks to this awkward werewolf, Wei Long shook his head helplessly, too lazy to talk to him, and turned to Shang Haojia, "My friend, you must be very tired. There is still quite a distance between here and the police station, you might as well take this opportunity to rest for a while – "

"No, there are still a few things that I want to know." Shang Haojia waved his hand and sat up excitedly, "I have been working in the emergency department for two years, and I have never encountered these types of weird situations – are there often werewolves going around hurting people, or vampires and werewolves starting street fights?"

"No, no – these situations naturally have a cause." Wei Long smiled and shook his head. Keenly noticing Shang Haojia's waist which he held in his hand, he thoughtfully reached his hand out to hold the narrow waist of the rather well-built human doctor, "In the past, this city was temporarily inhabited by vampires. Because vampires are a very low-key and elegant race that cannot leave images on any surveillance or camera equipment, the existence of vampires had not been noticed by anyone… that is, until the first wandering werewolf appeared here."

"It wasn't me." He Jialun consciously raised his hand and steadily braked at a red light, "I have a dog certificate, have been vaccinated, and have a pedigree certificate. My parents have lived in this city for a long time, unlike the wild wolves outside, who my mother never let me play with."

"You werewolves are really – very integrated into modern life…" Removing the hand that was resting on his waist, Doctor Shang nodded in a complicated mood, then calmly patted the vampire who was momentarily lost, "The first wandering werewolf came – then what?"

In his heart, he crossed off the third line in his love handbook: 'More physical contact with him, let him get used to your scent'. The increasingly frustrated vampire was only lost for a moment before regaining his spirit. Smiling, he met his gaze, "The situation afterwards became very chaotic. More werewolves gathered, and the vampires were unwilling to give in. Competing for temporary residence for the new year, the low- and middle-level forces of the two major races began to engage in more frequent battles…"

"So you also need a temporary residence permit – do you renew them every year?" Shang Haojia adjusted his posture and was painfully reminded of the soreness in his waist, and he couldn't help but take a breath.

Wei Long stretched his hand out to embrace him. Rubbing the back of his waist with one hand, he unobtrusively let the power of the blood family flow through the palm of his hand, "My dear friend, does this make you feel better?"

"Much better – thanks a lot…" The comfortable coolness quickly dispelled the soreness of his waist muscles that came about due to sprains and excessive fatigue. Shang Haojia finally had no choice but to accept such benefits, and he sighed in desperation, as he was once again taken by the vampire.

"We don't need a temporary residence permit, because we are the resident ghosts of the city – but for a large number of wandering ghosts, if there is no temporary residence permit, regardless of whether it is a celestial master, a Taoist priest, an elf, or a magician, they have the right to drive them away, or even eliminate them." Finally discovering the trick for getting along with the other party, a little bit of blood flashed through the vampire's ink-coloured pupils. His movements became more patient and gentler, and he willingly continued to be a free masseur.

Letting Masseur Wei press on his waist, Shang Haojia relaxedly leaned on the seat, and could not help but sigh.

"I wasn't quite able to adapt to the Chinese system of ghosts and monsters at the beginning, but after all, while living here, it is necessary to follow such customs." Satisfied with the current situation, Wei Long answered with a chuckle, then swiftly took the other person into his arms without warning, "But as for why this low-level werewolf turned violent, I haven't fully ascertained the situation. It is possible that the fighting has escalated, or it is possible that the prophets have verified their identities, arousing their vigilance…"

"Could you not keep using the terminology of werewolves killing to describe this sort of thing – did you know that it makes you sound very middle-aged?" He Jialun, who had kept silent under the deterrence of power, finally couldn't help but interject, and he patted the steering wheel in annoyance, "I think the other inventions of humans are all good, but this werewolf killing is really awful – Did a werewolf eat his family's rice, or kidnap his dog and elope? Why do they find it interesting to gather a group of people to kill a werewolf?"

"Excuse me – I indeed may have been a little addicted to werewolf killing recently, after all, this game is really interesting, especially when you are playing with goblin friends who don't have a good memory." Feeling the genuine anger of the werewolf friend, Wei Long smiled helplessly, leaning over slightly to apologise, "Then – please allow me to correct my statement. As to why there is a low-level werewolf, who could not hide his identity, indiscriminately attacking a crowd, I still do not know… However, I personally doubt that someone from the investigation department has followed them and made them feel anxious."

Shang Haojia raised his eyebrows with interest and was about to continue pursuing the question, when the car smoothly stopped in front of the police station.

"Okay – wake him up. Let's go into the police station and talk." As a child of a dual-police family, Shang Haojia was more familiar with the police station than his own neighbourhood. Opening the door and jumping out of the car, he was stunned by the dazzling sunlight. He instinctively raised his hand to block his eyes, and then remembered that there was a light-sensitive vampire sitting in the car.

Wei Long didn't seem to care much, just holding the door with the intent of getting out of the car, but Shang Haojia pressed on his shoulder to prevent him from getting out, "Sunscreen can't completely block the ultraviolet rays and today's weather is very good, are you sure it doesn't matter?"

"My dear friend, your concern for me has moved me from the bottom of my heart – but please rest assured, I am a vampire who has survived thousands of years after all. Simply walking in the sun like this for a short time will not cause me to be sunburnt." Taking out a pair of sunglasses from his pocket, Wei Long smiled and patted his arm, he graciously got out of the car, "According to human research in astronomy, the moon reflects sunlight – According to this theory, moonlight also poses a threat to us. Wouldn't that make us unable to survive in this world?"

"Don't talk to me about science – I don't know what science is anymore." Shang Haojia shook his head angrily, pushed the vampire standing in front of him into the shade, then turned around and helped the sleepy young man, "Awake? Come out of the car, they will question you shortly."

"Doctor – are we at the police station?" The young man rubbed his eyes and saw the majestic police station in front of him. He smiled and rubbed his hands together, "Well, when I go back, I can show them that I am a good man who has been to the bureau and made it out alive…"

"According to you, I have been a good man for more than twenty years." He Jialun locked the car and walked over. Shang Haojia nodded at the vampire leaning in the shade, and led the group into the police station.

The guard had known Shang Haojia for a long time, and he enthusiastically patted him on the shoulder as soon as he saw him, "Xiao Jia, look at your parents, with just one word they will leave Xiao Jia – it's really hard for you. On behalf of the organisation, this uncle would like to extend his condolences to you!"

"Okay – please convey a message to the organisation for me. I am almost starving to death, can the organisation take care of my meal…" Although he ate two pies in the middle of the night, stitching was a physical job, and after running around for half of the night, he once again emptied his stomach. Shang Haojia signed in in the registration book and was about to wait for his parents to come to the hall to collect them, when suddenly, his eyes lit up, "Mom – how did you know that I'm here?!"

Not expecting to have the chance to see his mother-in-law, the vampire's ink-coloured eyes once again lit up with a flash of blood, and he looked over with interest.

The policewoman walked over quickly. Although her face was kind and gentle, her steps were quite vigorous and she did not look as though she had a son in his twenties. She smiled and embraced the son who threw himself into her arms, and patted his back lightly, "Your dad said that based on the speed of your movements and the analysis of the road conditions between your hospital and the police station, you should arrive at this time – I heard you have been stitching people up all night, are you tired?"

"Not tired, just hungry." Seeing the rice bowl in his mother's hands, he finally felt the warmth of family love again. Shang Haojia was so touched that he almost choked up. He took the bowl and poured two mouthfuls into his mouth, "Mom, look – you brought me congee, but not a pair of chopsticks. This meat congee really needs some salt though…"

He Jialun wrinkled his nose, and suddenly pulled Wei Long's sleeve worriedly, winking towards the two of them.

Receiving the telepathic wave from the werewolf friend, Wei Long slightly opened his eyes in surprise. Hesitating for a moment, he finally shook his head sorrowfully and resolutely.

Unfortunately, Mother Shang obviously didn't understand the painstaking effort of the two. Lovingly patting her son's shoulder, she shook her head helplessly, "Silly boy, this is for the werewolf. Your aunt specifically cooked some dog food, I just sent it along the way…"
