My Vampire Faints at Blood Chapter 69
In the second week of his long vacation, Doctor Shang successfully obtained his PhD.
It was so difficult to produce a doctor with a PhD in the emergency department that the head of the department couldn't stop smiling and bragging about it all day long, earning a solid wave of hatred for Doctor Shang. After returning to the hospital once, Sang Haojia was so scared that he fled with his stethoscope, pulling his vampire into the Elves' luxury carriage and heading to Hawaii for a pleasant holiday.
"In fact, I'm still very curious – it was obvious that we wanted to spend some quality time together, so how did we end up in this situation?" In his arms was a tiger cub that had grown quite strong, and on his shoulder was an orange cat that had grown more than one size. The majesty of the pureblood king had obviously been greatly diminished, and the group continued to mingle happily in the villa as if they hadn't noticed.
"The teacher from the dragon kindergarten called and said that Wei Yao had eaten the other children again." The human doctor didn't seem to have any particular comment on the situation at hand, plucking the little Taotie off his shoulder, "Xiao Yao, last time it was because someone pulled your brother's wings, what is it about this time?"
"Because a Yazi mocked my brother and said that his name was different from ours!" The orange cat straightened its neck majestically and waved its paw with a flourish, "If you can't beat it, eat it!"
"Wei Yao did the right thing, we should advise kindergartens to try to keep Yazi out of school, they're always bullying other children." The vampire nodded approvingly and took the much fatter little one from his human, teaching him dutifully and patiently, "Remember to spit it out after you eat it, after all, they're all classmates, so just scare them, be careful of upsetting your stomach, okay?"
The little Taotie nodded vigorously and rolled in his father's arms. Comfortably licking his fur, he also scooped up the squirming tiger cub into his arms and licked it in the process.
"These two of you are so close, Xian Bao and Xian Bei have the right idea now, but they are fighting at every turn and neither one is willing to give in to the other." Attracted by the loving family, Xian Lin sighed softly and groomed his dragon whiskers with envy, "I've sent those two brats to boarding school, and I don't know if I can get them to learn to behave better. They listen to you, when will you be able to teach them again?"
"Mr. Xian, are you sure they'll learn to behave better if they stay with me?" The human doctor, obviously fully aware of himself, raised his eyebrows and shook his head, beckoning to the half-blood snow fox who was slumped on the sofa, "And Lu Xue, do you remember what those two little ones have been learning?"
"Fuck you and Lu Xue, my name is Zhen Xi!" The second young master of the werewolf family leapt up in a rage, and was driven by his racial instincts to land head first on the ground, covering his mouth and rolling aside in tears, "Damn, why is it so hard..."
"Because when my house was being tiled, I didn't expect a snow fox to jump up and hit the floor." The king of purebloods, who has properties all over the world, sighed lightly with grace, picked up the white fox's tail and handed it to the ghostly servant who floated in, then wrapped his arms around his human and sat down on the sofa: "I left the safe zone, and it is understandable that Master Yan came with me to supervise me. Since Master Yan is here, Mr. Elf will be here, so Sir Blood Hunter came along to rehearse with him for the examination performance, and so my untalented son came along too-"
"You still know that I am your son! Why do I have to follow so many reasons for why I came along, Dad, doesn't your conscience hurt, Dad?!" The bloodsucking ball popped up with open teeth and claws, which caused the noble pureblood king to purse his lips slightly in disgust and casually swat him away, "Why is he swollen again, Sir Blood Hunter, are you feeding him your own blood?"
"To spice things up on certain occasions, he occasionally sucks my blood. He got pissed off and bit me yesterday." The vampire hunter, who was always an elite dresser, wore a rare Hawaiian-style short-sleeved shirt today. His collar slightly open, semi revealing the bloody mandala mark. He took a sip from his glass of blood coke: "It's okay, it'll go away in a couple of days – but my esteemed father-in-law, can you not always emphasise your relationship as father and son in name only?"
"I would love to, but my love seems to enjoy the fact that Mr. Elf has to call him uncle because of it." The vampire smiled apologetically and tilted his head innocently, politely declining the other man's request.
Zhuge Kaoyu was not upset, shrugging noncommittally and settling comfortably into the sofa, "Aren't you curious as to why we've come over here, do you want to know?"
Looking benignly at the light bulbs in the room, the pureblood king smiled graciously and shook his head with restraint, a bloodshot glint in his eyes, "No, I don't really want to know at all, I just simply don't want you guys to follow me here."
"Tomorrow is Tanabata, it's so nice to come out and have some fun. We're all paired up, and we won't bother you two, so let's just enjoy the addiction of living in a villa."
The little phoenix had just entered the door, fluttering its wings eagerly and coming over with a cloth pocket hanging around its neck. Inside crouched a stoic-faced Tibetan fox, nodding slightly at the two in a friendly manner, "Doctor Shang, Mr. Wei, hello again."
"Did you sleep all the way from the sycamore tree?" Controlling his facial expression and greeting the Tibetan fox, the human doctor sympathetically plucked a sycamore leaf off the young phoenix and patted him on the back, "Stay here, will you be discovered eating here?"
"No no, it doesn't matter if we go abroad, I've been wanting to eat fish for a long time!" Haidi transformed into his human form and shook his head with a smile. Giving the human doctor an affectionate hug, he excitedly yanked his Mr. Tibetan Fox out the door and ran straight for the beach.
Apart from the lone hybrid snow fox, the rest of the group, all of whom were with their families, were led by the little phoenix and went straight to the beach to do their own thing. Halfway down the beach, Mr. Tibetan Fox finally turned back and picked up his brother, who was wet with tears, "Do you still want my life?"
"Not anymore." The hybrid snow fox hiccupped from crying and lifted his little paw to wipe the tears from his face, "Jia Duobao, I was wrong, don't leave me, that vampire will really stew me..."
"What did you call me?" The Tibetan fox crouched down and pulled his ear. The snow fox immediately changed his tone honestly: "Big Brother..."
Jia Duobao nodded in satisfaction and calmly went out the door carrying his brother's tail: "Let's go, help your sister-in-law catch fish, I can't do it alone."
After the chaos, the villa finally cleared up.
"My dear, I think there must be something strange about this." Cuddling his human lazily on the couch, the vampire pet the tiger cub in his arms, a bloodshot glint in his eyes, "With so many people following us, I'm sure they're not just here for a holiday. The Special Department must have some other confidential arrangement, but my forces have not yet detected..."
"Yes, they are here to find a mermaid. I heard that someone saw a mermaid here which has been extinct for over a hundred years, and the Special Department is planning to find it and find a way to protect it." Doctor Shang was holding up the orange cat and looking it up and down, poking worriedly at his son's stomach which had almost begun to layer, and nodded carelessly, "Don't worry – with Muxi around, there's nothing that the Special Department can keep secret."
"So that's how it is..." With a growing respect for his human doctor, who is a master of his craft, Wei Long nodded his head slightly, rubbed the little tiger's ears, and could not help but sigh: "I heard that the meat of mermaids is extremely tasty, and as a result, various races hunted and killed them extensively, resulting in the rapid extinction of this race within a few years – If not for the the Special Department appearing, such atrocities would not have been curbed, and from that point of view, the Special Department did do some good."
"Were they hunted down and killed because they were delicious?" He thought the reason for the extinction would be some special ability or encountering some extremely tough natural enemy, but he didn't expect it to be such a vicious reason. Doctor Shang frowned and lowered his sore arm, "Since they are called mermaids, they should at least be similar to humans, can they also be hunted?"
"There are two main types of mermaids, those with a human body and a fish tail, and those with a fish head and human legs. The latter type is closer to fish and is said to have only seven seconds of memory and a small brain capacity, making it the main target for capture and killing." The knowledgeable pureblood ancestor shook his head, patiently educating his human about mermaids, and spoke with a slight hesitation before coughing again, "But – the mermaid community is special. They are gender-neutral, and all breeding duties are handled by the fish-headed human-legged..."
"Okay, I probably get it." The human doctor interrupted with a timely raised hand, stopping the imagery in his head and forcing the conversation away, "How's your altar coming along, have you found the location yet?"
Although he had successfully cured the anorexia, the power of the last pendant had been exhausted nonetheless. As a precaution for the future, the two decided to activate another altar to replenish his power, which was also the main task of this holiday.
Wei Long nodded with a light smile, opening his phone's blood clan navigation app and handing it over, "We've found it, it's underwater not far away, we need to go rent a snorkelling set for you first. My friend introduced me to a snorkelling instructor, his prices are said to be very fair, we can go to him anytime."
It's important to get on with business. Getting the two little ones settled, the human doctor followed his vampire out the door and found the fair-priced snorkelling instructor.
"Just call me Xian Yu. What kind of snorkelling equipment would you like to hire, one for normal human use or one of these fully automatic drainable and fully waterproof ones?" The owner was a handsome young man, but had what appeared to be some form of disability in his legs, which were covered with a thick fleece blanket. Skilfully manoeuvring his wheelchair, he greeted the two special customers with a smile.
Looking at the snorkelling equipment, which was almost comparable to a miniature submarine, even the knowledgeable pureblood king could not help but feel a little shocked: "Mr. Xian Yu, I don't mean to be rude – but most people who snorkel are at least there to swim, would anyone really use such equipment? "
"There will always be, there are always those who are not actually good swimmers, but who have to live in the water." The owner smiled calmly, tilted his head slightly, and looked at him jokingly, "That's not surprising. If you think it's not beautiful enough, I have a fully transparent jellyfish here, which is also completely waterproof. You can enjoy the sea freely in it, it's just a bit slow and can sometimes drift backwards. It's only being put to use for sightseeing tours at the moment and I can include a swordfish or tuna to pull it for you."
"Thank you, I'll just use this normal equipment." The human doctor spoke up promptly, declining the odd amenity for himself. Paying for the rental of the diving suit and oxygen tank, he signed the rental agreement and handed the pen over thoughtfully, "How long have you been here, are you the only one?"
"No, my family is still very large, they are just hidden in the depths of the sea – Friendly human friend, if one day you happen to pass by any of the reefs in your boat and hear a song coming from above, please just put on some new songs and update their ageing songbook a little." Meeting his gaze, the owner blinked lightly twice and gave a mischievous grin.
Shang Haojia smiled back and nodded gently, extending his hand to shake his, "Happy to oblige, I hope I'm lucky with this."
The vampire was already waiting outside. The human doctor briskly exited this snorkelling station with his equipment and walked a short distance down the beach. Looking at the giggling and joking Special Department agents and glancing back at the uneventful storefront, he finally smiled and shook his head.
The last mermaid will probably never be found.
