S.C.I Mystery Series Volume 5 Chapter 40

Inheritor of the Three Murderers 09 – Silhouette

A'Mo made a detailed list of those inheritors from that year and briefly described the special "genes" of these people.

There aren't many inheritors left. If they didn't die in the accident, the ones who are still alive may have changed their names and appearances, so how can they search for them?

Ma Han called Eleven to enquire about it, and Eleven kept an eye on the black gold list for the people, but no new missions had appeared.

Zhan Zhao and Zhao Jue made several lists based on the information given by A'Mo, which described in detail the traits that these inheritors might possess after so many years. However... the few inheritors who were killed before were like A'Mo, maintaining anonymity and keeping a very low profile. Perhaps even the murderer is still searching for them.

Several nerds with high IQs in SCI were rummaging through a sea of information.

Bai Chi, Zhan Zhao and Zhao Jue, plus the homebody Jiang Ping and even Mia who came to help, it's reasonable to say that the IQ of these people combined is more than a thousand, but it's impossible to achieve unity in all kinds of analyses and data filtering. People will change, whether it's appearance or character. With only a few words of description from an early age, how can they find those children who have grown up in a vast sea of people?

Zhao Hu, Ma Han and the rest of them in the office were made dizzy by the sound of various books being leafed through.

Bai Yutang also couldn't calm down, so he took his sword and went up to the roof to practise.

The tarmac on the roof of the SCI building was empty, and the weather was just right at this time.

Bai Yutang practised his sword alone.

To practise any skill well, it needs to be repeated over and over again, practice makes perfect is a stage that even geniuses can't escape. It's only when the skill becomes an instinct that something can be achieved.

Bai Yutang had a talent for physical prowess that ordinary people could not match. As long as it was a physical movement, he could develop an instinctive response through practice.

Chao Jiu initially felt that Bai Yutang was the least murderous of the Bai family and would probably be the most ineffective one as well. But after teaching him for a few days, he found that this kid was simply a genius, and after half a month he began to feel that he was teaching a monster... After a month, Chao Jiu kicked Bai Yutang out and told him not to come back, as there was nothing left to teach him, so after that Bai Yutang could only practise on his own.

The air on the roof cleared Bai Yutang's brain. He swung his sword almost unconsciously while his brain pondered the recent string of events.

However, what made Bai Yutang particularly concerned was not the inheritors, but the fact that Zhao Jue had been staying at SCI recently.

Bai Yutang always felt that Zhao Jue and Bai Ye had other purposes for staying by their side. Those assassins might be trying to find G, but Zhao Jue didn't care about G that much.

Just as he was thinking about it, suddenly... Bai Yutang felt an unusual line of sight and looked up...

Only to see that on the tall building opposite him, there was a person standing, facing his direction.

When their eyes met, even though they were separated by a great distance, Bai Yutang still saw the smile on that person's face. He saw him raise his hand and gently wave it as if in greeting. As he waved, his sleeve slipped down, and under his left glove, a mechanical arm was vaguely visible.

Bai Yutang frowned – G...

After G waved at Bai Yutang, another person appeared behind him.

Bai Yutang frowned slightly.

That person was dressed in all black, very tall, with a robust build, and his features could not be seen clearly, as he wore a pair of sunglasses. However, his silhouette struck Bai Yutang as indescribably familiar, somewhat resembling Bai Jintang.

The man in black walked behind G and handed him a cell phone.

Almost simultaneously, Bai Yutang's cell phone rang.

Bai Yutang took it out and saw that the caller ID displayed an unknown number.

Picking up the phone, Bai Yutang saw G's mouth on the opposite side move, and his voice came over the phone, "Hello, little tiger."

Bai Yutang didn't answer, he was currently eyeballing the height of the opposite building and the distance from the police station, calculating the number of floors, as well as the time it would take to get to that building and the possibility of catching G.

The corner of G's mouth lifted slightly, and he gave a meaningful laugh, "You should know that no matter how good your jumping power is you won't be able to fly here."

Bai Yutang was silent for a moment before speaking, "You should know that I have a gun."

G gently raised an eyebrow, seemingly glancing at the man in black beside him, "What a coincidence, he has one too."

The more Bai Yutang looked at that man in black, the more familiar he felt – He felt that from the silhouette, he really looked like his older brother! It's not that they look similar, it's the silhouette...

G leaned against the railing on the roof of the building, continuing to talk to Bai Yutang, "If you're looking for the inheritors, I can provide you with some clues."

Bai Yutang frowned slightly, he naturally didn't trust G, and asked in a cold voice, "What's the reason?"

G held his chin and sized up Bai Yutang, "You speak with the same cadence as your older brother."

Bai Yutang remained silent, but felt his anger rising... As for why, he wasn't sure, but he felt that when G brought up his brother, it made him very upset.

G laughed, "The eyes are even more similar, I wonder if you're even more dangerous than him?"

As his words fell, Bai Yutang suddenly took a step to the side...

Almost at the same time Bai Yutang moved, the black-clothed man pulled out his gun... A thin wisp of nitrous smoke instantly dispersed from the front end of the bullet-loaded barrel.

On the railing in front of where Bai Yutang had just stood, a bullet hole appeared... Of course, when the bullet hit the iron railing, Bai Yutang had already stepped aside.

G reached out, pressing down on the black-clothed man's hand that was holding the gun, and gave Bai Yutang an approving smile, "What a fast reaction, even faster than Bai Ye!"

Just as G's words finished, he heard the bang of a gunshot... The sunglasses of the man in black beside him flew away with a pop.

Bai Yutang put away his gun and finally saw the black-clothed man's face... It was a face that had absolutely nothing in common with Bai Jintang. It wasn't Asian, it had some Central and South American features, it was wilder, and there was also a trace of blood on the corner of his forehead from the bullet that had grazed him.

The tall black man raised his hands and slowly clapped.

The roof of the building Bai Yutang was on was the roof of the police station, and not too far below the floorboards was the SCI office. This gunshot caused the people who were burying their heads in information to jerk their heads up, and the people from the other departments within the police station began to look for where the gunshot had come from.

G helplessly said to Bai Yutang, "Looks like we can't talk for too long."

Bai Yutang could already hear the ding of the elevator doors opening on the top floor.

"The marathon this afternoon." G smiled slightly, "One of the inheritors you're looking for is in it."

"And your purpose?" Bai Yutang asked.

G spread his hands.

At this moment, the door leading to the rooftop behind Bai Yutang was pushed open, and Zhan Zhao and Luo Tian ran out.

Zhan Zhao caught a glimpse of G on the opposite floor.

The smile on G's face became even brighter, leaving Bai Yutang with one last comment, "Give my regards to Zhao Jue."

After saying that, G threw the cellphone, and the black-clothed man beside him caught it. After snapping the phone with one hand, he threw it off the tall building.

G put on his sunglasses, turned around and walked away with the man in black.

Zhan Zhao ran to Bai Yutang's side.

Luo Tian was going to take people to the opposite building to arrest them, but Bai Yutang reached out and stopped him, saying, "You won't be able to catch them."

Luo Tian looked at Bai Yutang.

Bai Yutang frowned slightly, "That man in black is dangerous, G is even more dangerous, it's too risky to catch them like this, many people will die."

"What did he say to you?" Zhan Zhao asked as he held Bai Yutang's face and examined it carefully from left to right, "Did he do anything strange to you? How many times have I told you not to talk to strangers!"

Bai Yutang looked at him helplessly and told him what G had just told him.

"A marathon?" Zhan Zhao looked confused, "Is there a marathon in S City this afternoon?"

Bai Yutang nodded, "Mhmm, a large marathon with roughly twenty thousand participants."

"Twenty thousand people?!" Zhan Zhao's pitch rose a few notches, "Surprisingly, there are so many people who foolishly want to go running on the streets?"

Bai Yutang was powerless, "Cat, there are still a lot of people in this world who love sports, not acting like a lazy cat like you."

Zhan Zhao narrowed his eyes, "Twenty thousand people... there's a list of participants right?"

Bai Yutang nodded, "Mm-hmm."

As he said this, he called Jiang Ping to have him pull up the list of participants.

The two headed for the elevator, ready to head back to the SCI office.

Bai Yutang asked Zhan Zhao, "Cat, do you think G's words are credible?"

Zhan Zhao laughed dryly, "Of course they're not trustworthy, don't believe a single word that comes out of this person's mouth!"

"Not checking the marathon then?" Bai Yutang asked.

Zhan Zhao frowned and shook his head, "He must have other intentions even if he is providing us with information on the inheritors."

"How about asking Zhao Jue?" Bai Yutang suggested.

Zhan Zhao looked disgusted, "Why ask him?"

Bai Yutang nodded, "Then we won't ask Zhao Jue?"

"It doesn't hurt to ask." Zhan Zhao crossed his arms, "Otherwise it's a waste to feed and house him for so many days."

Just as the elevator doors opened, Bai Yutang reached out and squeezed Zhan Zhao's face to push him out of the elevator.

Zhan Zhao was thrown out of the elevator, which happened to be on the SCI floor, and looked at Bai Yutang, who was still in the elevator, in disbelief, "You're not going back?"

Bai Yutang said, "You guys investigate the marathon list first, I have some things to take care of." After saying that, he pressed the close door button.

As the elevator door closed, Luo Tian asked Zhan Zhao in confusion, "Where is Captain going?"

Zhan Zhao stroked his chin and thought, "Most likely going to look for his dad."

Luo Tian looked at Zhan Zhao in disbelief, "You can even guess this?"

Zhan Zhao waved his hand, "The only person he needs to see without me is his dad."

Luo Tian still foolishly asked, "Why?"

Zhan Zhao on the other hand muttered to himself, "Does it have anything to do with Brother?"

Luo Tian puzzledly followed Zhan Zhao back to the office – How was this deduced?

Zhan Zhao walked into the office and saw Gongsun heading out with a phone, seemingly chatting about where to go for dinner.

Zhan Zhao then came over and asked Gongsun, "Brother?"

Gongsun froze and nodded.

Zhan Zhao beckoned, signalling – Lend me the phone.

Gongsun handed the phone to Zhan Zhao.

Zhan Zhao took the phone, "Brother!"

"Huh?" Bai Jintang was a little puzzled when the person he was chatting to suddenly changed.

"Do you know G?" Zhan Zhao asked.

Bai Jintang seemed flabbergasted for a moment before answering, "Which G?"

"Do you know someone with a fake hand?" Zhan Zhao simply changed the way he asked.

Bai Jintang thought for a moment and replied, "No impression."

Zhan Zhao narrowed his eyes.

Gongsun was listening on the side with his ear next to his cell phone. He wrinkled his nose and made a neck-slicing gesture to Zhan Zhao, indicating – Your brother is lying!

Zhan Zhao nodded his head in agreement, then asked, "Then do you recognise a tall man with Central and South American looks?"

Bai Yutang was silent for roughly two seconds before replying, "No."

Zhan Zhao continued to squint.

Gongsun shook his head at him – He's lying!

......

Zhan Zhao returned the phone to Gongsun.

Gongsun took it and was going to continue chatting about dinner, but the other side of the phone cut off.

Gongsun looked at the phone in confusion and turned his face to look at Zhan Zhao.

Zhan Zhao had a meaningful look on his face, and with his hands behind his back, he went back to his office – There is a path here!

......

On the other end, Bai Jintang hung up his cell phone and dialled another number.

The call connected and Bai Yunwen's voice came from the other side, "I thought you would never call me again in this lifetime."

Bai Jintang did not answer and said, "Yutang might have remembered something."

Bai Yunwen was slightly stunned, "It's not like he's ever lost his memory, his memory has always been good."

Bai Jintang was silent for a moment before speaking again, his voice a few degrees colder, "I won't pursue those things in the past, but if you do anything that will harm my brother, no matter who you are, I won't let you go."

After saying that, he hung up the call.

Bai Yunwen listened to the long "du..." tone on the other end of the phone after the click sound, then looked at his cell phone helplessly and ground his teeth, "Brat! No respect for your elders!"

......

At this time, the sound of the door opening could be heard from the living room, followed by Mother Bai's voice, "Ah! Yutang, you're home for dinner? Why didn't you call first? Where's Xiao Zhan? Didn't he come along?"

Bai Yutang chatted with his mother for a few moments before saying that he had something to ask his dad.

Bai Yunwen put down the phone and opened a book, pretending to read without reading a single line, when he heard someone knocking on the door.

"Come in."

The door opened, and Bai Yutang walked in and said, "Dad... I have something I want to ask you."
