Murderer vs Murderer 29 – The Truth of That Year

At Bai Yutang's command, the two officers by the window of Chen Kefeng's room quickly drew the curtains and Luo Tian and the others kicked open the empty room next door and caught Xue Li, who was watching the situation with binoculars.

At the other end, Bobby's crane landed just in time for the crowd to see that he appeared to be wounded on one hand. He had collected his gun and was just trying to escape the crane when he was caught by the arriving police officers. And on the final side, a bloody hole appeared on Cen Yi's shoulder.

Zhang Long picked up Bobby's sniper rifle and found a clear dent in the barrel, where the bullet fired by Ma Han had changed the direction of the gun after hitting Bobby's barrel. The powerful impact caused the rifle to turn quickly to one side, causing Bobby to fracture the finger that was pulling the trigger and holding the rifle. The bullet that Ma Han fired was blocked and shot skyward, quickly running out of momentum and landing back inside the crane without hurting anyone.

The bullet fired from Bobby's uncontrolled state was redirected and shot diagonally... impartially hitting Cen Yi's shoulder while he was searching for Bobby's position with his binoculars.

Cen Yi was unaware of the connection and thought that Bobby had figured out his plan. Hearing the sirens blaring nearby, he hastily withdrew his gun and fled, covering his wound.

He was too wounded to drive and hailed two taxis to take him to the southern suburbs of the city.

Coincidentally, two taxis had just passed by Cen Yi, and the one driver was none other than Zhao Zhen, who had put on some make-up.

The two taxis were equipped with tracking devices and eavesdropping equipment, and Zhao Zhen, who was wearing a miniature headset, was working as an extra to help SCI. Because he was the quickest and most responsive, Bai Yutang asked him to help out as a guest driver.

"Captain, the snake is in the hole." Zhang Long and Zhao Hu, who were driving behind him, reported to Bai Yutang.

"Follow him." Bai Yutang sighed in relief, "Find out where Zhao Qin is!"

As the car drove out, Cen Yi saw a number of police cars parked not far away, and the police were escorting the handcuffed Bobby into the car. He subconsciously looked down and waited for the car to pass safely through that area and there were no police cars around... before he sighed in relief.

"Don't go south." He suddenly looked up and said to Zhao Zhen, who was pretending to be the driver, "Go to the East Cross Street pet market."

The crowd heard the message through the bug in the car and Bai Yutang smiled, "The pet market is quite suitable for Zhao Qin." He instructed his men to look for them in that area. Not forgetting the reminder to have someone bring Chen Yin and the German Shepherds, R and T.

Putting down the walkie-talkie and waiting for a message, Bai Yutang looked with some regret at the aircraft on the tarmac not far away, "Looks like it won't be used, it went a bit smoother than expected."

"Yeah." Zhan Zhao rubbed his chin, watching the video of the shot that Ma Han had just fired repeatedly with interest, "I didn't expect that it would actually hit."

Bai Yutang also came over to take a look, “It's amazing, no wonder he chose the TAC-50, normal bullets don't have the force to deflect the barrel of the gun that much.

"Xiao Ma Ge is formidable this time." Jiang Ping held his chin, praising him repeatedly, “This shot will definitely become a classic case of counter-sniping, he's going to have another bunch of fans."

"Right, how come it actually hit?” Zhan Zhao sat on the chair and muttered to himself, seemingly puzzled, "Can the average person do that? It's not a smart bullet, there's no traction, it's close to two kilometres, and bullets are only so accurate, how is it possible?"

As he walked to the side of the building and looked down, he saw that Ma Han and Zhao Hu had already gone downstairs. Something flashed through Bai Yutang's head – Zhan Zhao seemed to have asked about Ma Han's lighter last night.

"Jiang Ping, do you know where Xiao Ma Ge's lighter came from?" Zhan Zhao asked Jiang Ping.

"I don't know about that." Jiang Ping rubbed his head, "He seems to carry two of them around, one of them is a silver one that is a lucky lighter which he uses every time he completes a task."

“Cat," Bai Yutang patted Zhan Zhao, who was still dazed, “suspicious?"

"No, I'm just curious." Zhan Zhao smiled faintly and stood up.

Not long after, news came from the other end that the two German Shepherds had found Zhao Qin who had been imprisoned in the basement of a studio near the pet market. Zhao Qin was unharmed, only blindfolded, and had been rescued and sent to the hospital for examination.

Bai Yutang and Zhan Zhao looked at each other and smiled – the case was solved!

Bai Yutang told Zhao Zhen through his headset, "We've found him, you can do your magic now."

Zhao Zhen smiled faintly and pulled over to the side of the road. Before Cen Yi could figure out what was going on, he was caught by the twins who appeared from either side like magic and stuffed him into Zhang Long's police car.

Bai Yutang retrieved his walkie-talkie and ordered the whole team back to the police station.

"Cat, everyone's been caught!"

Zhan Zhao nodded, "Next, we can ask the truth about the plane crash back then."

"Who should we start with first?"

"Bobby and Cen Yi." Zhan Zhao smiled slightly mysteriously, "Call Dr. Qiu as well."

"You're going to let Hao Ling recover her memory?" Bai Yutang frowned slightly, "Is that a good idea?"

Zhan Zhao smiled and reached out to pat Bai Yutang, "If you don't tell her, she'll go and investigate it herself, right?"

"Indeed, only Hao Ling can decide whether she should know or not." Bai Yutang sighed, "It's not for us to judge."

In the SCI interrogation room, Bobby sat alone at the table, his face expressionless, and outside, a crowd of police officers gathered around to get a look at the legendary Alcatraz prisoner, the vicious Mad Doctor Bobby.

Gongsun occupied the best seat in front of the one-way mirror in the interrogation room, somewhat agitated. The wounded Old Yang also arrived in his wheelchair, accompanied by Yang Fan.

Zhan Zhao and Bai Yutang opened the door to the interrogation room, and Yang Fan pushed Old Yang in.

Old Yang smiled back and nodded, "It's been a long time, you pretended you didn't know me before."

"You're holding a grudge again, it was inconvenient for me, and there’s a black-faced god following you around."

At the door, the corner of Bao Zheng's mouth twitched as he hurried in – the black-faced god.

Yang Fan helped Bobby with his hand and frowned, "All four fingers are broken into three pieces, a permanent injury that cannot be rehabilitated."

"Who did my shot hit?" Bobby asked curiously, glancing at the one-sided mirror as he did so, "Say hello to the marksman for me."

Zhao Hu looked around, "Huh? Where's Xiao Ma Ge?"

Bai Chi pointed next door, "Seems he got a call and went next door to talk."

Zhao Hu scowled, "It's probably Chen Jiayi." He ignored it and turned back to continue listening.

Bai Yutang took out Cen Yi's photo, "Him, a shattered shoulder blade."

"Heh, not bad." Bobby smiled and asked again, "What about Chen Keqing and the woman named Xue?"

"Both arrested." Bai Yutang said, "If you want them to stay in jail for the rest of their lives, you better tell the truth."

Bobby shrugged "Of course I'll tell, but before I do..." He turned to Old Yang, "Do you know any cardiologists? I've got one last operation to do!"

Old Yang asked, “One last operation?"

Yang Fan didn't understand what was going on, "I know a few authorities in the medical field."

"I want the kind with actual hands-on skills." Bobby pointed at Yang Fan, "You're not bad!"

Yang Fan looked to the sky, "I have to look at the patient’s condition."

Bobby looked very arrogant, "I'll teach you how to do it, you just have to do it, boy."

The corners of Yang Fan's mouth twitched, and the crowd was glad it was Yang Fan and not Gongsun who was being spoken to, who also wore glasses and was not on the same level of temper.

"Who are you going to treat?" Bai Yutang asked in disbelief, "Is that why you came all the way to S City?"

Bobby nodded, wrinkles piling up on his face, looking old.

Zhan Zhao frowned, "Why don't you do this operation yourself?"

"I'm not well enough to do such a difficult and long-lasting operation." Bobby looked at Yang Fan, "I've been watching you for a long time and your technique is quite good. I will provide the method, you do the operation, only success is allowed, no failure."

Yang Fan scowled, thinking to himself that the old man was talking like he was giving orders. But Bai Yutang and the others had official business to attend to, so Yang Fan pushed Old Yang out first.

Afterwards, Zhan Zhao and Bai Yutang sat down.

Bobby looked at them with a relaxed expression, "You guys did a pretty good job."

"You were the one who gave Hao Ling a facelift?" Zhan Zhao asked, "You were also the one who erased her memory? What was the method used, hypnosis?"

Bobby frowned and let out a laugh, "Of course I don't need that kind of witchcraft."

Bai Yutang was puzzled, "Then how did you do it?"

"Hypnosis and all that doesn't interest me at all, but every part of a person's brain controls their thoughts, behavioural habits, and of course, memories. I just made some changes to Xiao Ling's brain to make her forget temporarily."

"Xiao Ling?" Zhan Zhao was a little amused, "You mean Hao Ling? I'm surprised that you're classified as a psychopathic killer that doesn't place much importance on human life. Why would someone so cold and heartless save Hao Ling and go to all the trouble of avenging her?"

Bobby looked at Zhan Zhao and smiled, "Someone told me that you are one of the best psychologists, so take a guess."

Zhan Zhao was silent for a moment before speaking, "You're her father?"

Everyone was startled and looked at Qiu Yiwen, who looked bewildered behind the one-way mirror glass.

"It's really not that simple." Bobby snorted, "Over forty years ago, I was transferred to Alcatraz, fell overboard after a shipwreck, and when I woke up again, I was on a pirate ship."

The crowd was silent, listening quietly as Bobby recalled his legendary life.

"It was a big merchant ship from Southeast Asia that was engaged in illegal trade, and the people on board were all kinds of different kinds of people; pirates, smugglers, drug dealers, arms dealers, they did everything. When I was rescued, I was originally meant to be used as a hostage or a slave... or later as a human shield." Bobby laughed, "Until one day the captain fell overboard and had a shark bite off his arm. I didn't just save him, I helped him put his arm back together. From then on, I went from being a human animal to the most respected doctor on the ship. The captain and others began to trust me, and I became friends with them. Being on a pirate ship is pretty fun; one, you have money and can buy very advanced medical equipment, and two, you have a constant supply of live people to use for medical research. What do you think?"

The crowd couldn't help but frown – he really is a perverted mad doctor!

"The good times didn't last long, maybe the pirates were too rampant, but some countries sent ships to besiege them. There was a permanent international police presence on the commercial routes to check for drugs and smuggling… and our days got worse day by day. Finally, the captain decided to clean up his act and break away from the island to set up a transport group as well as other industries to do business on land. And that once stolen money became the start-up capital."

"Back then, everyone split the accounts, the bosses got their share and all left, and I got my share and chose to stay. Back then, the captain decided to choose X Island to use as a base and stash the rest of the huge fortune there in case he needed it later. I, on the other hand, got a medical research lab on the island and started doing medical research, working as a treasure watcher on the side, and training a big modified man to be my follower. As for those who were scattered and needed money, I would help them get their treasures out and send them the money in cash. Apart from that, I would occasionally leave the island to buy medical equipment in the city. Over thirty years ago, I met a woman who on impulse gave birth to a daughter. Zhan Zhao and Bai Yutang understood in their hearts, he was afraid that Hao Ling herself did not know this part of her life.

"I had been living in peace like this for many years, drunk on medical research as well as reading Xiao Ling's medical papers, and life slowly began to settle down. My old bad guy friends also managed to turn into businessmen, and everything was fine until a few years ago, when the crew members were killed one after another."

Bobby looked a little serious, "There were a few young people who had learned the secret of X Island from somewhere and they started looking around to find out where it was. They were men and women with mysterious identities. On the surface, they appeared to be just ordinary students, but a few of them had received excellent military training; as for where they learned it, I'm not sure. Eventually they found me by various means, and so... that tragedy from three years ago happened."
