S.C.I Mystery Series Volume 3 Chapter 90

Lucky Murderer 20 – Intrusion

"The reason you pretend to have a split personality is to get us to not pursue your medical history?" Bai Yutang understood what Zhan Zhao meant. It seemed that he and Lian Qianyi were in a psychological war, but of course Zhan Zhao saw through Lian Qianyi's tricks.

"Hehe." Lian Qianyi laughed helplessly, "Sure enough, showing one’s skill before an expert... I should have known that I couldn't fool you at all."

"Why do you want to conceal this?" Zhan Zhao and Bai Yutang found chairs and sat down, ready to ask in detail.

"Well, first of all, I want to say thanks to you both." Lian Qianyi reached out and gently covered the area where his ribs were injured, "You both saved my life."

Zhan Zhao did understand that Bai Yutang's shot had saved Lian Qianyi by accident, but as for himself… when had he saved him?

"Your book saved me." Lian Qianyi chuckled and said, "Actually, my illness was not cured by those quacks at all, but by you."

Zhan Zhao raised his eyebrows, was this some sort of compliment?

"They all treated me like I was crazy, I also thought I was crazy when I was a kid... until I read your book!" When Lian Qianyi said this, his expression was very natural, "After reading your book, I began to realise that there are actually not many people who are originally crazy in this world, except for a small percentage of those who are physically ill, most of the others are caused by certain reasons.

Bai Yutang gave Zhan Zhao a look – Are you sure you wrote a book?

Zhan Zhao coughed and looked at Lian Qianyi, "And then what? You found out what's wrong with you?"

"I once, of course, really, really long ago, wrote you an email asking about the difference between memory genetics, split personalities, and paranoia, do you remember?" Lian Qianyi asked with a smile.

The word ‘forget' never existed in Zhan Zhao's dictionary, so of course he remembered it, he could even say the exact date, "A long time ago, I remember, I even replied to you in detail."

"That's right, your email helped me to sort out my situation from the chaos." Lian Qianyi spoke with some emotion, "It was not that I was crazy, I was just special. After that, I went crazy and read all your books as well as the articles published in the newspapers. I also found many, many books on psychology to read, and finally used that knowledge to put my confused memories and thoughts back together, so I was able to live like a normal person."

"What are your memories about?" Zhan Zhao asked patiently...

However, he doubted whether Lian Qianyi had really figured out his condition on his own. Regarding the genetic aspect of memory, he felt that Lian Qianyi might have some misconceptions. The theories themselves have not been concretely proven, nor have they been put into a systematic scientific system. That is to say that there were flaws, and Lian Qianyi was merely grasping at straws to save his life. It was still too early to conclude whether he had genetic memories or not.

But Zhan Zhao's interest was still piqued, because no matter which way he looked at it, Lian Qianyi would be an excellent example no matter the perspective, an unprecedented case.

When Bai Yutang saw Zhan Zhao's eyes narrowed slightly like a cat that had seen a rat, he knew that he must have set his eyes on something.

"Then, describe your dream to me in detail." Zhan Zhao took out the recorder he had brought with him and simply treated Lian Qianyi as a patient.

Bai Yutang listened as he stood by the hospital window. The blinds were closed, but from the inside, he could still look downstairs.

By now, the weather was approaching evening.

Bai Yutang suddenly noticed that there was a police car parked downstairs.

Looking in the distance again... he remembered seeing a police car when they entered.

As far as he knew, there were four police officers guarding the door. The two at the door were plain-clothed and he knew them, as they were all Ai Hu's men. The two men outside, in uniform, were guarding the front entrance. It's unlikely that the plain-clothed officers would come in a police car. Did the two uniformed ones come in seperate cars?

Zhan Zhao sat on the edge of the bed, chatting with Lian Qianyi.

Bai Yutang walked calmly to the door, opened it and looked out. Both police officers were standing there and looked at him.

Bai Yutang asked, "Are you two the only ones on duty? Is there anyone else?"

"Yes there is, Captain Bai." One of the officers replied, "One is on duty in the car outside, another is at the entrance to the building, and two other plain-clothed officers are on shift with us, on four hour shifts."

"Oh..." Bai Yutang nodded, walked out, and closed the door, hooking a finger at the two men.

The two men came over and Bai Yutang whispered a few words to them. The two looked at each other, and Bai Yutang waved his hand gently, indicating that it would be fine for them to do as they were told.

So the two nodded their heads, understanding.

When Bai Yutang returned to the room and closed the door, Zhan Zhao was still talking to Lian Qianyi. He didn't make a sound, nor did he disturb the two. He walked to the door and went across to the medical office to borrow a white coat. He took off his coat and changed into it, pretending to take a case clipboard and a pen, then stood at the door of Zhan Zhao's room, where the two police officers were still standing, unsure of the situation.

......

Outside of SCI's office, more than a dozen people had gathered, the outer layer being other police officers who were unaware of the truth, mostly because they smelled the stench and heard 'rumours' from people who had just come to ‘visit' the Economic Section that there had finally been a zombie that turned up in Gongsun's creepy forensic room, and therefore they came in groups to watch.

In the middle of the hallway, the forensics team was collecting evidence from the hallway at Gongsun's request.

In the inner corridor, the SCI team, wearing simple gas masks, blocked the door of the forensic room. On the more inner layer was Bai Jintang, who had no idea what was going on and had wanted to find Gongsun for dinner, but now had no appetite.

In the innermost layer, the forensic room, was the pile of pulp and bones that Gongsun was working on.

Ma Xin managed to squeeze in and rushed into the forensic room to take a look, dumbfounded, "How did this happen?"

Gongsun pointed to the mask and after Ma Xin put it on, Gongsun took the glass dish and gave it to her, "There seems to be a strong oxidiser in his body, look at the composition."

"Has the body been tampered with?" Ma Xin changed her clothes and put on her gloves, and took what Gongsun handed her, "It's not likely, the body was in the forensic room the whole time, and no one came in."

"It's not nobody."

At that moment, Jiang Ping walked in.

Gongsun and the others all looked up at him. Jiang Ping shooed away all the people who were not SCI and opened his laptop to show them, "This is the video from last night.

The crowd all sat down to watch it and Gongsun blinked, "There's surveillance in the forensic room too?"

"Ahem..." Jiang Ping coughed, vaguely, “Well… actually, the whole building is monitored over two layers, which is only monitored from my end, and the building security is physically insulated, so it's hard for hackers to get at it."

Bai Jintang suddenly asked, "Is there an archive?"

The corners of Jiang Ping's mouth twitched and his ears turned red.

The crowd looked at him suspiciously

Jiang Ping hurriedly opened the video for the crowd to see, and they saw that the screen was dim… it should be at night.

Bai Chi suddenly remembered that the other day, he and Zhao Zhen kissed in the corner of the corridor, they were seen, weren't they?! He immediately asked Jiang Ping with a red face and embarrassment, "That means that every corner of SCI is monitored?!"

"Well... ahem, it's not everywhere, just keep watching the video." Jiang Ping suddenly realised that he was in danger of being silenced and hurriedly diverted the attention of the crowd, adjusting the video feed to just after 2:00 a.m. The crowd then saw a humanoid white shadow appear outside the window of the forensic room.

"What is that?" Gongsun froze at the sight of the white shadow, which had a distinctive look and seemed to be somewhat fluorescent, a transparent chunk that looked like a person, but wasn't.

"Wow!" Bai Chi exclaimed, "What the!"

"This camera is infrared and when it encounters a surface that tends to reflect light, it becomes like this!" Jiang Ping said, "I suspect it was someone with professional training who was wearing rather special clothes to cause this effect."

"But how did he get in?" Zhang Long scratched his head.

"Probably came down from the roof with a climbing rope. There are police officers on duty on every floor of the police station, so if he climbed up from the outer wall there's no way no one would have noticed. And the difficulty of climbing unassisted is too high, I'll go to the roof and take a look." Qin Ou headed out. Luo Tian happened to return at that moment. After taking a look at look at the situation, he went with him.

In the forensic room, the crowd continued to watch the video.

The odd white shadow was seen opening the glass window with an odd movement and coming in from top to bottom, through the window.

Ma Xin looked at the glass window and frowned. The lower part of the glass windows in the forensic room were one-way and fixed in place, so they could not be opened. Only the top part of the windows, which were movable and used for ventilation, could be moved. Looking at the man, it looked like he had come in from above.

"Ah!" Ma Xin stood on the stool and pointed to the window above, saying to the crowd, "There's a hole in the window!"

Zhang Long walked over, climbed up on the stool to look out, and frowned, "Someone used glass tape to do that! The hole was too small and overhead, so it was never noticed."

"He reached in through that hole and opened the window. The glass tape stopped the toughened glass from shattering altogether, which should be a professional's trick.” Ma Xin rushed off to get the forensics people to come in and see if they could get clothing fibres or fingerprints or something from there.

At this point, Bao Zheng also came in. He walked over to the group and asked, "I heard that there was an intrusion from the outside?"

"We're looking at it, we don't know if he's human yet." Jiang Ping finished and received a scorching look from Bao Zheng, " What is it if not a human being?!"

Jiang Ping rubbed his head and told the crowd to keep watching.

They saw the man walk over to the corpse storage cabinet, pull the drawer out, then lower his head and bend down...

The image that followed was somewhat bizarre, as the man wrapped his arms around the corpse and was doing something unknown.

"What's he doing?” Ma Xin asked, horrified.

“It looks like he was molesting the corpse." Gongsun flattened his mouth, "I've seen people with this fetish before in forensics class."

The crowd frowned. Even if they were really perverted and ran to a funeral home or mortuary, they wouldn't take such a big risk by coming to the police forensic room, would they? Besides, you can't just molest a corpse into a pile of meat sauce!

The man was busy for a while, and the crowd watched long enough to notice that he seemed to be looking for something. He then opened a few other drawers and after rummaging around with the two bodies in the same way for a while, he turned around, closed the drawers, and carefully returned the way he had come.

The crowd looked at each other, what is this situation?

"What happened just now?" Gongsun asked Jiang Ping, "What was that scream I heard when I was just going to the bathroom?

Jiang Ping roughly found that time and showed Gongsun the screen, but there was nothing unusual at all.

Gongsun didn't understand... that sound did sound like a scream, didn't it?!

"Well, it was like something rubbing together, also like a whistle." Bai Chi recalled the feeling... It was just that there was subjectivity in something like sound, and everyone heard it differently.

At this time, Luo Tian and Qin Ou returned, and asked the forensic team to go up to the top of the building to collect evidence. They found that there was paint falling off the fence, and it seemed that someone had used a rope to descend… It’s just that the police station is very heavily guarded, what method did this person use to reach the top of the building? This is debatable!

"Hoo..." Gongsun put his hands in his pockets and stared at the three bags of meat sauce and bones for a long time, saying, "Forget it, all of you go out and close the door for me, Xin Xin and I want to examine the corpse."

The crowd dutifully turned around and went out. Bao Zheng rushed in, but after seeing the situation, he too turned and left, it was too revolting.

But then they heard Gongsun suddenly say, "Leave two labourers to do the hard work for me!"

The crowd immediately grinned.

Gongsun reached out and pointed at Luo Tian and Qin Ou, "Just you two. Take out all the bones first."

Qin Ou and Luo Tian's faces went white as the crowd was glad they hadn't been chosen and scattered like birds and beasts.

Bai Jintang was also thrown out along with the crowd. Closing the door, he reached out and grabbed the back of Jiang Ping's collar, who was trying to escape, "Do you have any other footage recorded?"

"No..." Jiang Ping shook his head like a rattle.

Bai Jintang smiled, "You name the price, I'll buy it from you."

Jiang Ping blushed bitterly, "Big Brother, don't hurt me, I can't sell the information to others."

"Oh… it’s really recorded, ah." Bai Jintang nodded in satisfaction, then his face turned cold, "So, you've seen it?"

Jiang Ping's face immediately turned blue, “No, ah... I haven't! The installation of the camera was ordered by Captain Bai, the video recording is usually checked once a week and the useless sections are deleted."

Bai Jintang slightly narrowed his eyes.

Jiang Ping opened his mouth, but decided to confess, after all, his little life was important, "That... I took a glance at that passionate scene of yours, and deleted it when I saw that the situation was not right."

"Huh?" Bai Jintang picked the corner of his mouth, "No backup?"

Jiang Ping gulped, "Only Dr. Zhan took a copy! Everything else was deleted."

"Oh..." Bai Jintang nodded in satisfaction and released Jiang Ping, who ran back to his office and was grabbed by Bai Chi, "That... you, are there cameras installed in the hallways?

"Ha?!" Jiang Ping's mouth opened wide, "Big Brother Bai and Gongsun were inside the forensic room, and you were actually in the hallway with Zhao Zhen... Wow! Chi Chi you're so open, huh?"

"No, I didn't!" Bai Chi blushed, "So did you install them?"

Jiang Ping nodded.

Bai Chi's face darkened as he approached, grabbing him by the collar and shaking him, "Give it to me! Give me all that footage!"

  1. Zhan Zhao was so scarily amazing 😅 He never forget. There's childhood memories that I wish I could still remember. But there's memories that I don't mind to forget. Yet he remembered them all.

I'm glad that Lian Qianyi could found help from Zhan Zhao's books. But I don't think he really got it. It's human nature to see what we want to see. Like in daily fortune, if we believe it we would tried to matched it. So our good luck or bad luck seems matched the fortune telling.

I love the quote that Zhan Zhao looked at Lian Qianyi like a cat watched its prey mouse 🤭

Though Yutang's reaction made me a little worry. The enemy would attack the hospital? Or they would acted as cops to retrieve Lian Qianyi. But since Yutang is there, I have a confidence they would failed.

Damn.. Yutang didn't tell anyone about the surveillance. I wonder why Zhan Zhao took the copy. He loves Jintang as his big brother. Hopefully he only wanted to give them as a gift since Jintang seems so interested 😁

I don't think the corpses were being molested. My guess is they put something in the back body so they could melted the corpses quickly.

Even the strong will person like Luo Tian and Qin Ou paled to be tasked like that. Poor them 😂
