Zhan Zhao and the others were attracted by this somewhat weird and somewhat romantic story, and they listened carefully. When Zhan Qitian said that he had chased the culprit for ten years, Zhan Zhao frowned, “Doesn’t that mean that Zhang Miaomiao was bitten thirty years ago?”

“That’s right.” Bai Yunwen nodded.

“How did Xu Tian catch that vampire?” Bai Yutang asked.

“His method was very good, it was similar to a psychological pursuit.” Bao Zheng said, “He was convinced that the murderer saw himself as a real vampire, and that his habits must be the same as those of a vampire. Therefore, he had to find out the habits of a vampire, understand his next move, and find his possible hiding places.”

“That’s a very proper method.” Zhan Zhao nodded, “That’s why he stole so much information about vampires?”

“En.” Bao Zheng nodded, “He successfully found the vampire, killed him, and called the police.”

“What happened to him after that?” Zhan Zhao asked.

“He’s gone.” Bai Yunwen said, “He told us the story of the case and then disappeared.”

Zhan Zhao and Bai Yutang looked at each other, saying in their hearts, ‘They stole things about vampires this time too, right?’

“The small wooden cabin in this forest is where he found the vampire.” Bao Zheng said, “It is a simple wooden cabin. The forest ranger originally lived in it, but the forest ranger was killed by the vampire, and he used it as his food storage building.”

“Food storage building?” Bai Chi widened his eyes, “What do you mean?”

“He brought food… that is, people, into that building.” Bai Feng said, “He drained all of their blood out and stored it in containers so that he could drink it when there was no fresh blood.”

“Did he really live by drinking human blood?” Gongsun felt that it was a little unbelievable, “Impossible, it’s impossible for human beings to live by only drinking blood.”

“That vampire was actually weak, the only thing that was powerful was his equipment.” Bai Yunwen replied.

“Equipment?” Bai Jintang was curious, “Was it the equipment he used to suck the blood?”

“En.” Bao Zheng nodded. From the bag he took with him, he pulled out a box used for storing evidence.

Zhan Zhao took the box and opened the lid. There was something metal inside, something similar to a face mask. The most conspicuous part was the four pointed steel teeth, with a fixator attached to the back, which seemed to be worn on the face.

“Be careful.” Seeing Zhan Zhao holding the device, Zhan Qitian said, “That thing is quite fast.”

Zhan Zhao took the equipment and looked at it. Gongsun leaned over and said, “It’s a very delicate thing.”

“It seems to have to be worn on the face in order to work.” Bai Yutang took the mask and put it on his head, with the sharp teeth in front of his mouth, and the two pieces of metal clasped to the side of his face.

“Seems to be sensory.” Bai Yutang touched the two pieces of metal and asked, “What about the power supply?”

“There is a micro power supply in it.” Zhan Qitian smiled, “It’s scary technology. The power supply can last for more than two hundred years. It was the most advanced technology at the time.”

Everyone was surprised, ‘So powerful?’

“Yutang.” Bai Yunwen said, “Make it bite and see for yourself.” As he spoke, he took a piece of wood and placed it between the four sharp teeth on the front of the mask.

Bai Yutang opened his mouth and took a bite of air. At the same time, he heard a ‘click’, and the four long teeth closed, crushing the piece of wood.

Bai Yutang was wearing the mask, so he clearly felt the strength of the bite, which shook his cheeks. Zhan Zhao quickly helped him take the mask off.

“This thing really makes the wearer suffer.” Bai Yutang rubbed his cheeks and asked Bai Yunwen, “Where is the cabin? Let’s go take a look.”

“En.”  Bai Yunwen nodded, and he, Zhan Qitian, and Bao Zheng walked into the forest with Bai Yutang, Zhan Zhao, Bai Chi, and Zhao Zhen.

Xiao Ding followed curiously. Mother Bai and Mother Zhan sat in the tent to rest. Bai Jintang and Gongsun were not interested in the cabin, so they stayed by the campfire outside the tent. Bai Feng and Da Ding chatted, sitting in the same place. Victor asked Bai Yunwen to take him with him, leaving Lisbon lying lazily at Gongsun’s feet, dozing off. Lilia and Luban were sleeping on Lisbon’s belly.

In the middle of the night, the forest is undoubtedly the scariest place. Bai Yunwen led the group with Victor ahead of him. Bao Zheng and Bai Yutang walked next to him holding flashlights. Directly behind them, Zhan Qitian, Zhan Zhao, and Bai Chi followed. The yawning Zhao Zhen and the excited Xiao Ding walked at the back.

Zhan Qitian and Zhan Zhao walked side by side. As they walked, Zhan Qitian reached out and pinched Zhan Zhao’s arm, “Why are you so thin? How thin do you want to be?”

Zhan Zhao glanced at Zhan Qitian’s arms, thinking in his heart — ‘You are thin yourself, and yet you still look at how thin I am, don’t you know your genetics?’

Bai Yunwen turned his head and glanced at Bai Yutang, as if blaming him — ‘Don’t you feed him properly?’

The corner of Bai Yutang’s mouth twitched, and he said, “This cat is not thin, his meat is just in an invisible place…” Before he finished speaking, Zhan Zhao kicked him from behind.

Zhan Qitian glanced at Bai Yutang and squinted his eyes slightly. Bai Yutang turned away, and vaguely saw a dark shadow in the forest some distance ahead of them… he was stunned.

“What’s the matter?” Zhan Zhao patted him.

Bai Yutang frowned and looked up again, but there was nothing. He was probably just seeing things, so he shook his head and continued to walk forward.

At that moment, Victor, who was walking in front, suddenly whimpered.

Bai Chi was a little nervous, so he got closer to Zhao Zhen and asked, “Is something there?”

“This area is quite safe.” Bao Zheng said, “There are forest rangers and there are villages not far away, so there should be nothing dangerous.”

Bai Yunwen looked down and saw that Victor was looking at a large toad passing by. He reluctantly shook his head, raised his leg, and kicked towards the toad. The toad croaked and jumped away. Bai Yunwen led the dog and continued to walk forward. After walking a short distance, a small wooden cabin appeared in front of them.

“Hey.” Zhan Zhao suddenly called out to everyone in a low voice, “How come there is light?”

Everyone looked at each other… From the cabin that should have been abandoned, there was a faint light seeping out.

“This cabin is the famous haunted house.” Bao Zheng couldn’t laugh or cry, “Who came here tonight? The cabin has been locked and sealed for more than 20 years, how did they get in?”

“Let’s go and see.” Bai Yutang walked to the front. Everyone looked at each other, followed him, and walked to the cabin.

The candlelight in the cabin was faint. Everyone went to the door of the cabin and saw that it was closed. Bai Yutang leaned on the door and listened; there seemed to be sounds coming from inside…

Everyone glanced at each other. Bai Yutang reached out and pushed on the door. There seemed to be a latch on the inside of the door, as well as two iron rings on the outside that seemed to be used for locking, but there was no lock on them. Suddenly, they heard a scream from inside. The voice seemed a little dull, and it seemed to be from a woman.

Everyone looked at each other, and Bai Yunwen and Bao Zheng kicked the door open with their feet.

With a ‘bang’, everyone entered the cabin.

They saw a naked man and woman hugging each other, rolling on the floor, fiercely doing it.

Hearing a loud bang, both of them were startled. The woman screamed when she saw a lot of people rushing in, and she hurried to the side to wrap herself in a blanket. The man was also frightened, and cursed, “Who are you guys?!”

The two looked very young, like college students. Bai Yunwen and Bao Zheng hurriedly backed out in embarrassment. Outside the door, Zhan Zhao and the others moved to look inside. When they saw the situation, they were speechless. It turned out that it was young people having fun, and that it was a false alarm.

The man was so upset that when he put his clothes on, he refused to comment. Bai Yutang showed him his police ID and asked, “Is this place your home?”

The man became soft when he saw the police ID, and confessed that they were both from the nearby village. They attend to college in the city, and finally came home from school. They had trouble seeing each other, as their families paid close attention to them, so they had to come here.

Bao Zheng found it funny and asked the two students who were obviously in their twenties, “Do you know where this is?”

The two looked at each other, nodded, and the boy replied, “I heard that it was a murder house twenty years ago.”

“And you still dared to come even though you knew it was a haunted house?” Zhan Zhao was curious.

The boy blushed and whispered, “The villagers are talking nonsense… Besides, isn’t a murder house more exciting?”

Everyone was a little speechless. Zhan Qitian looked at the two of them and said, “It’s dangerous to run around here at night, so hurry back.”

The two students didn’t care about them, and wanted to leave. Zhan Zhao suddenly asked them, “Did you break the door to get in?”

 The boy shook his head, “The lock was open… we just went in.”

Bai Yutang frowned slightly, “Don’t stay, go home quickly. Take the road, and be careful along the way.”

“Okay.” The two students ran away quickly.

When the students left, everyone turned around and went into the cabin. Xiao Ding pointed to a few crosses on the wall of the room, “This house is very artistic.”

Bao Zheng shook his head, “They were originally used by the murderer to nail people. The black ones are stained with blood. The wood itself is stained, and it can’t be washed off… And on the floor where they were just lying, there is a door leading to the cellar where dozens of corpses were piled up.”

Everyone was shocked to hear that. Bai Chi and Zhao Zhen walked to the cross and looked at it. Bai Yutang opened the door of the cellar, and a cold air came out; the bloody and rotten smell that it carried was indescribable.

Bai Yutang frowned, “Why is it so smelly, are there dead mice?”

“It was in this cellar that year that a dozen or so corpses that had been drained of blood were found, stacked randomly.” Bai Yunwen squatted down next to him, “At that time, Old Bao and I had just become police officers, and it was the first time we had seen such a bloody case.”

Bai Yutang nodded. Everyone has their first time, no matter how strong their nerves are, they cannot adapt to seeing such a miserable scene. “I’ll go down and check the cellar.” After speaking, he climbed down into the cellar.

“This room is so clean, it doesn’t look like a room that has been locked up for a long time.” Zhan Zhao walked to a bookcase in the corner of the cabin, “All the books are still kept here? They are all about vampires.”

“En, Manager Lin probably comes to clean it.” Bao Zheng said, “This cabin has remained the same since the incident. Manager Lin should send someone to clean it occasionally, maybe they forgot to lock it?”

“Uh…” Zhan Zhao suddenly touched his chin, “Dad, are you sure that this cabin is the scene of the murder 20 years ago? No one has been here during this period?”

Zhan Qitian and Bai Yunwen looked at each other, then looked at Bao Zheng.

“There shouldn’t be.” Bao Zheng said, “This cabin has been sealed for a long time.”

Zhan Zhao frowned. With a weird expression on his face, he reached out and pulled a brand-new book from a pile of books, “Then why are there novels that were published this year?”

Everyone was stunned. Bai Chi felt his a chill run up his back, and he breathed out. After touching his arm from beside him, Zhao Zhen suddenly said, “There is a lock here.”

When everyone turned their heads, they saw Zhao Zhen pointing to a small cupboard by the door. There was a black iron lock on it with a key inserted.

Bao Zheng frowned deeply. Seeing Bai Yunwen and Zhan Qitian’s reactions, he felt that something was not right.

“Huh.” At that time, Bai Yutang, who had descended into the cellar, suddenly rushed back up. His face was pale and he looked at everyone, “There is a corpse down here…”

“What?” Bao Zheng was shocked.

“It is wearing orange-red overalls and has a flashlight in its hand.” Bai Yutang said, “It’s in the corner, it looks like a forest ranger…”

Just when everyone widened their eyes and looked at each other, they suddenly heard a heart-piercing scream from the forest outside… It was the voice of a woman.
