S.C.I Mystery Series Volume 2 Chapter 69
Password Murderer 09 – The Case of That Year
"Anything else?" Bai Yutang asked.
Gongsun shook his head, “Because there are no corpses and
only photos, we are only seeing what Qiao Weiming wants us to see.”
“You mean that there are things he didn’t take photos of?”
Zhan Zhao asked.
Gongsun nodded, “Such as the internal anatomy… He only wrote
that there was no sign of drugs being taken on the internal organs.”
“Is it possible that he kept samples or something?” Bai
Yutang asked.
Gongsun shook his head, “It’s unlikely… Unless he is keeping
them himself.”
“Who would be so perverted to save all of the data after the
autopsy, even the samples?” Zhao Hu asked casually. When he finished speaking,
he looked up and saw Gongsun looking at him with a smile, and his eyes immediately
widened, ‘No way…’
“No matter how we look at Qiao Weiming, there will be a lot
of clues.” Bai Yutang said, “Let’s set out to find Qiao Weiming… But first…”
“Do you want to go to Bao Sir to ask about the situation
related to this case?” Zhan Zhao asked Bai Yutang.
Bai Yutang nodded, “Something is suspicious, Bao Sir should
know.”
Afterwards, Luo Tian and Gongsun prepared to leave as Zhan
Zhao and Bai Yutang went to find Bao Zheng.
Bao Zheng was reading documents while drinking coffee.
Seeing the two of them enter his office, he asked, “How’s it going? Is the
suicide case of the female university student serious? The school just called
to inquire about it.”
Zhan Zhao and Bai Yutang looked at each other and asked Bao
Zheng, “Bao Sir, was there a big fire at this school before?”
Bao Zheng was taken aback for a moment, then frowned and
said, “Well, yes, there was a fire case at Normal University seven years ago.”
“That case is suspicious.” Zhan Zhao said.
Bao Zheng looked up at the two, “What’s the doubt?”
“We feel that there was some rashness in the handling of
this case.” Bai Yutang said.
Bao Zheng smiled, “Why, do you think that there is something
that was concealed?”
Zhan Zhao and Bai Yutang nodded and looked at Bao Zheng.
“Understandable.” Bao Zheng put down the file he was holding
and said, “I have an impression of that case because it was special enough.”
“Why is it special?” The two asked curiously.
“This case was not an accident.” Bao Zheng replied simply.
“Oh?” Zhan Zhao and Bai Yutang both sat down and listened
curiously.
Bao Zheng rubbed his eyebrows and sighed, “Simply put, those
four boys had gang-raped the girlfriend of one of the boys in the dormitory.
The boy lost it and killed the four boys, then committed suicide.”
Bai Yutang and Zhan Zhao both took a deep breath and looked
at each other. They felt that although Bao Zheng had spoken lightly about this
case, the shock effect was too strong.
“If this kind of vicious case was announced, it would have
seriously affected the reputation of Normal University. In addition, the four
boys deserved it. The main purpose of everyone was to protect the reputation
and future of that girl… So the school, parents, and police reached a
consensus, the case would be seen as an accident by the outside world. Anyway,
people can’t come back to life after death, and parents also have a lot of
considerations.”
“Where is that girl?” Bai Yutang frowned. However, after
thinking about it, those boys were all dead, and it was considered retribution.
But why did he use such an extreme method? Couldn’t it have been done through
legal means?
As if seeing Bai Yutang’s thoughts, Bao Zheng reluctantly
said, “That girl had very good grades, and she was well-behaved. Her family
background was also very strong. She had a secret relationship with that boy,
so he probably did such a stupid thing in order to protect her reputation.”
“Then, what about the forensic pathologist Qiao Weiming? Why
did he resign?” Zhan Zhao continued to ask.
“Oh…” Bao Zheng laughed, “Because he had a fierce quarrel
with a certain authoritative forensic pathologist and was angrily denounced by
said forensic pathologist to be a killer in a forensic coat, a soft-shelled
turtle wearing a tortoise shell, that it was a blasphemy for him to enter the
forensic room, and that a burned corpse was more beautiful than him, so he
resigned out of anger.”
Zhan Zhao and Bai Yutang raised their eyebrows and asked in
unison, “Which authoritative figure?”
Bao Zheng blinked, “Who else is the most authoritative
forensic pathologist in S City? It was Gongsun.”
“Heh…” Zhan Zhao and Bai Yutang both took a breath; no
wonder Gongsun was so ambiguous, it turned out to be like this.
Seeing the dumbfounded faces of the two, Bao Zheng asked,
“Why are you interested in that case?”
“I feel that it’s a little suspicious.” Bai Yutang said, “It
seems to be somewhat implicated in the current case.”
Bao Zheng nodded, “Do you have any other questions?”
Zhan Zhao and Bai Yutang thought for a while, then asked
“Bao Sir, who else is the most clear about the matters of that case?”
“Uh… It’s probably the principal.” Bao Zheng said, “They are
still the principal of the school now, his name is Zhang Jianqi.”
Zhan Zhao and Bai Yutang nodded, and Bai Yutang asked
another question, “Bao Sir, do you know that Qiao Weiming is a writer now? His
pen name is ‘The Eleven Sins’.”
“’The Eleven Sins’?” Bao Zheng frowned. He leaned back in
his chair and sighed, looking at the two of them, “What are you two trying to
say?”
Zhan Zhao asked, “Bao Sir, the forensic report contains
doubts. Although you explained the case to us, and it seems reasonable, there
are still some points that are unclear. The simplest would be why the students
stayed motionless as they burned in bed. All we saw was the evidence left by
the forensic pathologist.”
Bao Zheng listened quietly and nodded.
“Also, I’m more curious as to why Gongsun scolded him like
that back then.” Bai Yutang told Bao Zheng.
“Oh… In order to study drug reactions, he put a living
rabbit in a cage and poured sulfuric acid on it. Gongsun saw it and scolded
him, saying that you are absolutely not allowed to use knives on living things
in forensic medicine.”
Zhan Zhao raised his eyebrows, “There is a big difference
between humans and rabbits! Is it necessary to experiment with rabbits? It has
no academic purpose at all! It can only be said that it was a way to satisfy
some of his personal needs in secret.”
Bai Yutang frowned, “We want to ask him, but…”
“You want me to agree to let you investigate the case from
that year?” Bao Zheng asked Bai Yutang and Zhan Zhao, “Otherwise, if the words don’t
ring true, then nothing will be accomplished.” (Angel: Bad name, bad words, εδΈζ£θ¨δΈι‘Ί (mΓng bΓΉ zhΓ¨ng, yΓ‘n bΓΉ shΓΉn), is a Chinese idiom originally
referring to things that cannot be explained in theory; they are unreasonable
things and will definitely not succeed.)
The two nodded.
Bao Zheng sighed, “It’s okay to investigate, but the
students are dead and the girl has grown up now… You have to be careful when
handling this case. There are many people implicated, so don’t disturb the
peace of those who have it, a peaceful life is hard to come by. In addition, if
someone really didn’t get the punishment that they deserved back then, get
him!”
Both Bai Yutang and Zhan Zhao nodded earnestly, then turned
and left the office.
As soon as the door closed, Zhan Zhao’s eyes widened and he
looked at Bai Yutang, “Wow, Gongsun is so tough!”
Bai Yutang couldn’t laugh or cry, “Still selling Guanzi, he’s
obviously familiar with that Qian Weiming.” (Angel: εε
³ε (mΓ i guΔn zΗ), is a Chinese idiom for
speaking and doing things when it is critical, making the other party anxious.
For example, a storyteller tells a long story, and stops at the critical point,
so as to attract the audience to continue listening.)
“Go, let’s ask him!” Zhan Zhao hurriedly wanted to go back,
but he was pulled back by Bai Yutang, “Wait, we forgot to ask one thing.”
When Zhan Zhao turned around, he saw Bai Yutang hurriedly
pop back into Bao Zheng’s office, before popping out again. Zhan Zhao smiled,
“What? Ask the girl’s name?”
“Ha!” Bai Yutang was surprised, “Dead cat, so clever.”
“What’s her name?” Zhan Zhao asked.
“It’s Ye, Ye Ling.” Bai Yutang replied.
“Ye Ling?” Zhan Zhao stopped in surprise, frowning at Bai
Yutang, “Are you sure?”
Bai Yutang looked at Zhan Zhao with wide eyes, “Don’t tell
me you know this person. This name is quite popular, so there should be many
people with it.”
Zhan Zhao shook his head, “I’ll go back to the office to
check something.” After he spoke, he hurried off to his office.
“Cat?” Bai Yutang followed. When Zhan Zhao ran into his
office, he began to search for some information in a large box of documents.
“What are you looking for?” Bai Yutang walked over and
looked.
“I have a few students that I have taught who are now
psychologists.” Zhan Zhao said while reading the materials. “There was a
student named Dong Moli who encountered an unmanageable illness. She consulted
the patient for a year but was unable to cure them. She came to me a few days
ago and asked me to look at the information to see if I could come up with a
better treatment plan. That patient’s life has been greatly affected.”
“What’s the illness?” Bai Yutang asked, “Isn’t it possible
to just give them medication to recover from the illness?”
Zhan Zhao gave him a blank look, “I have told you that
mental illnesses and psychological illnesses are two different concepts!” (Angel: quick note, mental illnesses
can be treated with medicine, whereas psychological illnesses need therapy.)
Bai Yutang shrugged, “What on earth is the illness?”
“Here it is.” Zhan Zhao pulled out a document and showed it
to Bai Yutang.
Bai Yutang took a look. With wide eyes, he exclaimed, “Extreme
male phobia?!” (Angel: This is a
psychological illness called androphobia, hence medication won’t work.)
“En.” Zhan Zhao nodded, “There are many people who suffer
from a fear of the opposite sex. It generally manifests as rejection or
boredom, but not frequently as fear. Extreme fear is very, very rare.”
Bai Yutang looked at the document, “There must be no men in
her living space, otherwise she would be manic. If a man dares to approach
within ten steps of her, she will faint, and even worse, she will use a knife
to defend herself. There have been many attacks on others…”
Zhan Zhao nodded, “I’ve been studying this recently, and I
also said that I would like to participate in her treatment. There have been
similar cases before, but most of them were not as serious as hers. However,
she can’t remember anything from her past. We are still looking for the reason
behind her phobia, so we can’t start her treatment… But looking at it now, it’s
really similar. She is probably the girl we are looking for.”
“You mean that she was scared before, and then she got this
strange illness?” Bai Yutang asked, “And then she forgot the cause of it?”
“En.” Zhan Zhao nodded, “There is a picture of her on her
file. She is about the right age. Have Jiang Ping look up her name to see if
she is from Normal University.”
Bai Yutang nodded and walked out the door to check the name
of Ye Ling. The results of his inquiry were that, “She is indeed from Normal
University, but she dropped out of school seven years ago.”
Zhan Zhao and Bai Yutang sighed and looked at each other —
‘Then she is the same person.’
“Captain, what happened to this student?” Jiang Ping asked
Bai Yutang.
Bai Yutang shook his head and said to everyone, “You will
split up and start working. Go talk to Liu Mei’s family, and then go to the
school to inquire about it.”
Everyone nodded and acted separately.
“Gongsun and Luo Tian, come with us.” Bai Yutang and Zhan
Zhao turned around. Ma Xin strolled over with Gongsun and went to the school
with Ma Han and the others.
Bai Yutang waited in the car, and Zhan Zhao asked Gongsun,
“Gongsun, what do you think of that Qiao Weiming? It must be from your honest
personal perspective, off of any official records.”
Gongsun lifted his glasses and took a look at Zhan Zhao, then clearly spat out one word, “Scum!”
